If you got the load for $850, the gross rate would probably be $1062.50 as LS normally pays a broker carrier 80% of gross. The rate the Mercer drivers quoted would be truck pay, not gross rate, as that is all they ever quote. $630 at 75% is $840 gross. If I am correct on those percentages, that load would have paid me $808.76 at my contracted rate of 73.5% plus fsc.
Not bragging or anything to that effect, just doing the math.

lol junebug, i have had my authority. had it for 16 years and pulled exempt commodities for 4 years befor that with no authority.
you say you dont complain, read your old posts. look, i been there there done that and a a box full of t-shirts.
yeah, i make money. wonder if its because after 33 years i somehow learned something?
i been here at mercer for over 2 years, i have done just fine.
the problem you have with many that show up on this forum is they just started there and dont have a clue. a good bit of has to do with patience. the loads that pay well are there, you cant panic to get them. many will take the first load offered to get " miles". they think if they wait til the next day to load they will starve.
like this load i am on, it was 2.11 to the truck on 34,000 pounds, for every hundred pounds over that it paid extra, i am now sitting at 44,000 at 2.53 a mile. how many ya think would have done that?
it takes some knowledge and some patience, there are way to many guys at mercer who have been there 10 to 20 and more years.
the fact that you have your authority is good for you, but you continually criticize mercer drivers that lease to them. you have complained endlessly about not making money and shutting down. now you get a 850 dollar 163 mile load and then after questioning you somehow have a 675 dollar two pallet load with a 3 mile dh right back to beaumont.
i got another career for you, hot air balloon pilot. you could easily keep the balloon filled -
how am i misinformed????? i am leased to mercer and i dont have to do extreme dead heads. to get my current load 108 miles d/h, the load before that 122, the load before that 28 miles, the one before that 97 miles, the one before that 0 miles, the one before that 131 miles, the one before that 86 miles and on and on. it is called planning and knowing what loads are going to good areas.
and that takes a little time in the seat, and here at mercer a little time to get the system down pat. for everyone of these guys leasing on that have to learn the system, there are the ones of us here that know it and work it to perfection.
funny thing is , some folks never get it, no matter how much you try and show them.
see the thing is some of us were doing this before most of you could wipe your own behind, and a few have slid a coffee cup across a union 76 counter more miles than most of you have driven. next post i will have to explain what a union 76 was, lolJayTee Thanks this. -
to answer your question, they are probably leased somewhere else, and the new company is also the worst they have ever seen.
ever notice its always someone elses fault? that nothing that happens is ever anything they did , even partly? after raising five kids, it reminds me of " i got a bad grade because the teacher dont like me" . yeah right
then ya have that segment whose parents believed that, told em they were the greatest , had done nothing, and would make sure they got a trophy for just showing up. well now , some of em have trucks and they still do bad because no one likes them and its not their fault.Slick900 Thanks this. -
Why does it feel like i am being insulted?

In my first month on the Mercer Van Division I'm averaging $3900.00 per week and only 4.87% deadhead. The rates are lower than on the deck freight but I'm happy with everything so far.

I've had this load going back even before I was loaded coming over I didn't get unloaded yesterday so I was paid $250 more to layover and my load going back can drop sat at 10am, not sure why you think I would run back empty ITS is showing 184 loads going within 75 miles of Bmt. Anyone can pull these loads all I do is ask for more money and stand my ground. No my truck is not at mercer anymore was just a wast of time.
Do rates suck yes they do....when I make a post it's a fact I got the same per mile as I do now 10 years ago and fuel has gone up 163% so I think we should be getting atleast 20% more than we did years ago
Your credibility sucks!! your the only one out of anyone I talk to that is making money with mercer. like I said before I don't think mercer is a bad company I'm just saying there rates SUCK! Your getting load board rates and giving them 26% of your moneyrusty2222 Thanks this. -
And how do you book loads a week out first in first out means you get knocked off the load because you are not the first to drop. When we booked loads days out the day of the pick up they would call and say it cancelled BS!
You must be one of mercers little pets, they jack loads from new guys just for you!Last edited: Mar 22, 2013
