Had to haul another load of Haydite to NE, this time to Gresham. By the time I dumped, I had enough hours to make it back to the good ol' Peelot at York. Woke up yesterday morning, snowing and snow on the roads. Oh boy what great fun when you have to run over 100 miles empty. Made it to Palmer (again) loaded the beans and delivered them to Bunge in Emporia. I was shocked, no other trucks there, was straight in and out. Dispatch had nothing more, and was back at the yard early in the afternoon.

Found out that I'll be getting another truck, since mine has over 700k. He seems to trade them when they get above 700k. However I don't think I'll get a brand new one, which will be the T800s, probably just another hand me down. No biggie, just a royal pain switching.

TB; Makes no sense to me why we haven't been hauling more salt this past week. We've been hauling haydite, aggregates and soybeans. They should still have some salt left up there, Lord knows we've hauled a lot up there this season. I did do one salt load this past week, and what we call "the salt mountain" is really dwindled down. I asked the loaderman about it, and he says it's only halfway down. I went really??? Man that building we load out of is huge then, because the salt mountain is waaay back there. They had a wheel-loader and a D6 Cat parked, while a larger wheel-loader was working loading the bin. It looked like you could still drive a few big trucks around them and not interfere. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago. The pile is a lot smaller now...

As I daydream about getting a truck and doing something with it, tugging an end dump is not even in the top ten....

I'm sitting in my comfy chair trying to wake up and being bombarded by my little niece. "Can we watch movies? I found these caps, can we play with a cap gun? ETC."

up in portsmouth nh we have a salt pier for the ships

salt comes from caribbean where they dry up a whole lagoon
when the ship gets to nh they take a crane and put the front end loaders in the hole
to push the salt to the conveyor
when the yard is full salt pile is 4 acres and 120 feet high

    Eaton18 Thanks this.

Cool pic, Eaton. It looks like a lot of salt, but when you start putting it in hundreds of trucks to cover who knows how many miles, it doesn't seem like it would last long. I sure hope they get it down, get the highways plowed and the snow stops before I have to leave Monday.

It hasn't started doing anything here yet. They've moved the rain out until this evening and the snow after dark and through the night. We'll have to see what we wake up to in the morning.

In the meantime, I believe I'm gonna go rest my eyes and see if the pounding headache I have will go away.

Dave, i think if i were to get my own i would pull a grain wagon, that's good work in my opinion.

I've pulled just about any trailer you can imagine and i like those hopper bottoms.

Back home. Pondering what to do with my step-daughter's truck. Appears to have blown a radiator whilst we are in the midst of our own chaos.

I swear....I have never had such a string of bad luck in such a short time. Unbelivable. Trying not to let it get to me, but I'm failing......:biggrin_25510:

Our Jeep Cherokee blew a radiator when the electric fan stopped working. I would wonder if the same sort of thing happened in your case.

Back in my comfy chair after burning a lot of brush, reading a lot of "The Disciple" by Stephen Coonts and getting a piece of freshly baked Banana Nut Bread and slathering it in margarine!
