thanks carrkool, thats some good info, weights i have no problem being sure of , and overheads are not a problem, the rock trucker in me is aways looking at the sky for trees and powerlines when i raise my box to get my rocks off.... You hook a powerline with a dump box and it gets real exciting real fast... And pisses off the whole neighborhood when you take out their power.... just picked up the truck and trailer a little while ago, no coaxial connector on the antenna cables , and the drivers seat is made for a lardass with a butt 4 feet wide. keep hitting my elbow on the armrest in the up position when shifting.... Cascadias suck big time!!!!!! ryder rental truck and i am gonna have to fix it myself to be able to have a C.B. I can see they have some real rocket scientists working in that yard.....

yup, i talked to some of their drivers they are happy no problems , we are leaving tomorrow , gonna head to la then sf then east... Only part that sucks is the cascadia.... Friggin drivers seat is made for an elephant. I could fit three of me side by side in that seat. Gonna get the coax fixed in the morning and i am good to go....

You'll learn to like the room on the cascadia. Granted, the seat is a bit wider. So is the door and the position.

I'll tell you right now, you'll learn to think you are not sitting behind the steering wheel. Cuz you isn't.

After a couple weeks, I learned to like the cascadia I drove last year. It was a big decider in my getting the Century I bought. Not sure how I'll feel about getting into a narrow cab again.

Well Jim, you just need to get you one of them refrigerated flatbeds, that's all.:biggrin_25523: Can't give you more advice than you have gotten already. Verify temps with shipper, against bill of lading and with your disptach, always defrost when u pick up a running reefer, after closing doors, let cool then defrost. Watch your temps, montior your reefer fuel. Youll be fine. Let me know how you make out, and if you get up my way

are you kidding, i ain't become brain dead yet....... I will take a 379 anyday of the week, now thats a beautiful truck.

Good thing we are teams and constantly moving cause i would die from exhaust poision with the weed burner on this thing, gotta make sure i don't park next to my fellow drivers , do my stuff and leave.

As for the seat i feel like i am sitting in my living room in my arm chair with a steering wheel in front of me , you could set 3 of me side by side in that drivers seat.... I love the old large car petes... Now those looked like a truck...

And i like having a lid above my head not another 6 feet of open air space.... It just takes that much longer to cool it down or heat it up too..... Its wasted space and extra weight with all this aero dynamic crap..... Hell , i used to get up to 7.o mpg in my old 78 coe freightliner. Without any of that aerodynamic stuff on it.... Just the old square box cab....

Didn't have fairings and what every you call those fairing under the trailer , more crap to break or fix. And its all extra weight.... Once upon a time , trucks and boats had lines and beauty, now the only way you can tell one brand from another is to read the label on the hood.... Can't tell a freight liner from a mf volvo unless i am standing 4 feet away from it........

Trucks have gotten just plain ugly.....

Glad those idiots don't design wimmen, or we would really be screwed, god i miss the old days of truckin......

You'll be thinking a little less fondly of those large cars when you're watching one stuffing a 53 footer into a pre-WWII grocery dock. Seriously.

As to the space in the Frieghliners, I agree with MN - you'll get used to it quick. A lot of room to stow stuff without having to think about it much. Oh yeah, and not ever hitting your head when you get up out of that generous seat as long as you don't lean forward at the same time.

i will give you the pre wwii grocery docks. Ran into a few like that when i was pulling skateboards too.... My coe was 180 wb it helped alot in tight spots... As for getting used to all that space i am not convinced. I don't need that much room... A 60' walk in is nice, but the old 36" sleepers did just fine for me... I sleep then drive.... besides i was in the submarine service , i am use to tight quarters and cramped spaces....
