$1.65 a mile is actually $2.20. Not bad for a van.

I lose very few loads due to my step. I'm going to keep a close eye on all freight whenever I end up. I hear O/O talking about good areas for freight, but I see nothing on Mercer's load board. When I was in Jessup, MD, several reefer lease drivers were talking about $3.50 a mile freight coming out of Florida. Lots of loads, but no reefer trailers.

 

didn't you just take a load to Nebraska?? that's not a good freight area. and if you are losing very few loads because of the step , whats the problem?

 

I always get right out of NE due to Duke Energy getting trusses nearby, but I was going to Baltimore a few times thinking I could get back out. There's very little out there. I realized I am going East and West a bunch. I may start trying North and South and see how that works for me.
I sat in Tulsa for 1.5 days and noticed a lot of cheap $1.65 a mile freight. I grabbed a $2.01 load back to Long Island late on Thursday. It was that or take a chance sitting for the weekend.

I need to start calling the agents directly before I get there so they can start looking. My coordinator doesn't like preplanning.

 

getting out of ok for 1.65 aint cheap it s the avg rate. normal in fact

 

1.65 is cheap anywhere........ laughable cheap!!!!!

 

I think it's too cheap unless it's a company van.

 

Blind Driver based on your 30% of line haul pay agreement with your contractor you would be averaging $1043.00/week @ $0.38/mile pulling a Dry Van here. Reloading the same day 90% of the time and all no touch freight.

 

I've been noticing that. When I first started here, van rates were down to $1.29, but flat rates were around $2. I think it's changed a bit since March. I was told Mercer's monthly average is $14k. I may be able to do that with a van, but I look cooler pulling a step

 

Our two best contracts are Northern Tool and NACCO Forklifts.
Have never seen any of those loads hit the boards as they are snapped up by the coordinators immediately. I'm averaging $4200.00/week to the truck here.
