it may be cheap in a broad sense , but it really depends on the area, if ya load to Oklahoma, its an avg rate. you can scream yell and gripe but it is what it is. that's why you avoid areas like that. there are loads that don't pay that out of ok , so cheap is relative to the area you are in

I turned a wide load down out of Houston area needing ramps going to GA for $1.73 mile. Tell me that's the going rate for wide loads.
-
They go all over but I'm not going to post Mercer's rates for specific customers on here.
It should be easy enough for you to find out from the recruiters if you're really interested. -

nope that's not a wide load rate out of Houston, pipe pays more than that. but I will tell u that if you really need to hear that. I see loads every day on the board that I wont pull. I take the ones I want and don't let the rest bother me.

falcon71 Thanks this. -
I was surpised to see that on the mercer board myself at that rate. But sometimes there is super cheap freight run on the board.
I'll probably deadhead up to there tomorrow. How many you guys at the petro? -

you have to remember it isn't always the agent who names the rate, this could have been a customer who called and said I will pay this amount to haul this and the agent simply posts it, if someone takes he gets his percentage, if not he doesn't make anything, the agents don' t make as much off cheap loads either.
