    Its actually only been 7.

And I would suspect, other than the days your truck doesn't move, that no matter how long you drive, you will rarely purposely drive 45 minutes in 24 hours.

Ironpony, although my comment should go in the new HOS thread, I would like to respond... Yes, the new HOS involves even more planning if one wants to maximize and optimize their hrs. I know I do GREAT planning. My former load planner told me I could be a load planner! :yes2557: (if I wanted...) But great planning does take time, finding out the best places to fuel (my company has very limited network in some regions), to take breaks and still be able to work most of my available hrs and be on time or early for appointments. And in order to continue doing a great job, the new HOS will require even more freaking planning, it will limit my options... :biggrin_25510:
One thing I keep repeating... and I will say it again, money is not my reason for running hard, money has never been a reason for me to run hard. I run the way I do because I like it. I think even if I were getting percentage pay, I would still want to run the way I do. :yes2557:
I used to enjoy this "job" much more before elog because I had more freedom to enjoy the road and run the way was best for me... The new changes + elog just come to spoil A LOT of my fun and pleasure and replaces it with more pressure and control... It becomes more stressful, takes more planning to do it the best way I can, reduces my working hrs...:biggrin_25510: And if I don't find pleasure and fulfillment in my job, eventually I will find something better to do. Because I will not work my butt off on something I don't enjoy just for the money...:biggrin_25512:

Ok gotta jump in here on a couple of things
--paper logs are the only kind that are flexible--I mean c'mon--who out there on e-logs has ever folded your elog and put it in your carry bag and take it home? I mean really--LMAO:biggrin_25525:

and face it Pete--at 23 it WAS the worst winter HE had ever seen:biggrin_25523:

--and Hammer--although we may be couple thousand miles apart--IMHO--we cannot BOTH--take time off and go ridin around--and since I AM SURE I decided to do it first--you will just have to keep workin--sorry 'ol buddy:biggrin_255:

Obviously I am at the house--was leavin for somewhere out west--(didn't check whole load)--when it occured to me that my give a #### was BUSTED! Was in basement Sat night--finishin laundry looking at the 3/4 finished mc project on lift--that was gonna be on the road--LAST SUMMER--till life got in the way--AGAIN--LOL

So made a call--got things covered--spent rest of nite elbow deep in transmission--dropped tin off at buddies paint shop yesterday--just got off phone with brother back home at shop in FL--to get rest of odds and ends needed...

So since there's nothing else I can do--for now--time for me to go wear out some sidewall tread on some of me favorite backroads...and maybe kidnap my Grandson after school:biggrin_25525:

7 months...20+ years....not much difference, in your case....you already know the method of looking ahead and what you can and can't do with your log. In this case, having nowhere to continue to after the unload...it makes no difference except for the fact being there, at the appointment time and not oversleeping and blowing the appointment.

The down side to that 45 minute log day is that in 7 days you don't have much of any roll-over coming if you run your log to a tight, long hour schedule. OTOH, that "almost goose egg" does give a bit more to the available hours right now for the next day. If your dispatch has you sit out a time for the next p/u that could offer a 34 restart, then the whole case is actually moot.

Friday, in Vegas, it took me 9.5 hours to drive 32 miles.....got to love those convention unload dispatches! Paper log would have been easy...start a log to be "legal" while puttering from marshaling yard to convention center and back...then toss out the log and show sitting in Vegas for the time..."fresh" log to get out of Vegas. E-log on the down side...my 14 started when it actually started, and continued till the 10 hour break. But IP is correct, that is exactly the falsified version that E-log does not allow.

Doesn't mean you still can't do that... just gotta beat the machine - the little box with the irritating Ms Elogs in it! :biggrin_255: Come to think of it, imprisoning her in there must be part of why she's so ticked off all the time! :biggrin_25522:

...gives me another woman to argue with!!! :biggrin_2559:

actually got stuck in dallas twice doing 20 mile runs
thinking if i did them a favor it would be rewarded
then nothing again till the next day

i dont think it will pay to even take a 34 reset come july if it takes 44 hours to get it
after 24 hours you would get enough time back to keep running a week anyway
i unload early so often it just confuses them
and sometimes dont get a load until after the original unload time anyway

Ol' hand, I have to wait until I get to take the Texas girl shopping. What I would buy and what she'll ride with me on might not be compatible! :D

    Maybe with a Hayabusa transplant!

Sitting on the rail by the bay,
    Where my new cars were today;
    Soaking up the sunny rays,
While the new guy slaves away!
