Swift Solo miles

Ya these new rules are going to hurt us all wheather ur a day or night driver if u burn your hrs up fast like me ill be on a restart 3days a week the way it looks

The cycle will not start til the week since your restart thses people are idoits and wont be happy until we are working 40hr weeks

They would have less accidents at night if they forced all trucks to use elog those idoits running 2 paper logs and backing up their logs are the problem my friend runs 16 to 20hrs a day somedays and gets away with it because he runs paper logs thats bs

Ya the night drivers are the ones to screwed the worst my 1 to 5 is PM not AM I hope they win this appeal but it isnt suppose to know until OCTOBER

 

That 1-5 am period is also on home terminal time.
Since I am Pacific time that would mean between 0400 - 0800 if I am in the Eastern time zone.

Just something else to add a bit more complexity in our planning.

 

I was under the impression that the new 7 day cycle starts when you end the 34. And then today I watch the new 30 min break vid. Most of the times I only drive 8 - 8.5 hours in a day. Looks like if driving 8.5 hours that day, I have to take a 30 minute break. Leave it to Swift to also take it a step further, bringing in line 4

 

It is not Swift adding that...I think it is all due to the new rules sent down by DOT.

 

The only thing Swift is trying to do is make sure we follow the rules 'by the book'.

Can't really blame them for that.

 

By line 4 I meant, if we are at a customer getting loaded or unloaded during that 8 hours, unless the customer lets us room around or releases us we can not use the down time as our break

 

Oh really I do not log my time at shippers I waste enough time del at walmart stores and refuse to log more at shippr rs and revievers I log enough to show im picking up then slpr

And now with these new hrs coming you would have to be a idiot to log all that time swift dont like the way I log ill just quit and go to a better paying company thats my time not theres snd they dont wanna pay then why should I log it

They can mske up all the rules as they want if we all refuse to do it they cant enforce those rules if everyone refuses to follow them

Plus how do they know u didnt have permission to leave while being loaded/unld??

And how about the shippers we sleep at they want us to log that as well so we are stuck there forever??

I stay at shippers all the time while im being loaded take my break then leave after break

 

The nature of over the road irregular route is there pretty much is no consistency to the every week mileage. But there seem to be some little tricks that help.

Run hard when you get the chance, somehow Swift's algorithm recognizes when you turn in a 600 mile day, it seem to search for other loads which will require a driver to run 600 miles in a day. By the same token if all you run is 200 miles a day, the system seems to only give you 200 miles a day.

Manage your hours. This will become especially important July 1 2013 as the hours of service 34 reset provision will be reduced to just once per 7 day period. 70 hours in 8 days goes by very fast. Couple of ways to get around it, run hard for 3 or 4 days then take 17 to 27 hours off then run hard for 3 or 4 more days and do it again. Or run 10 hours a day and take about 24 to 34 hours off on the 8th day regardless of completing the actual 34 reset, and run off recapped 10 hours from the previous week.
