Ksouthard-I learned the hard way. Never went to school and was grandfathered when all this CDL came about. All I took was a 240 question test in Boston. Reading this thread these boys know there stuff. Do you know any body with any trucks at all that can help you? Of the 3 people I helped get a CDL 2 never driven anything with a clutch. I started them on a borrowed IH 26,000 non cdl dump. In a week it was second nature to them. From there I went with my tractor almost every night for an hour or two with them till they had more exper. It is easy to say but maybe someone will help you. As far as road exper you never stop learning. And if you make a mistake "evaluate what happened so you can apply what you learned". Mike-Z

This is difficult to say , but here goes , and no offense. You want to get into driving , cause you and your husband , together , can't pay your bills , you're gonna take on more debt to learn how to drive , or go to a Co. Sponsored school, where you'll be little more than an indentured servant for a year, and you're worried about DOGS ?
I musta missed a lot here. And you're a Paralegal ?Saint Walker Thanks this. -
K, check out Glendale Comm. College. See if they still have an instructor there, that is where I got my CDL back in the early 90's.
I know people that drive for Knight and they seem pretty happy.ksouthard Thanks this. -
Agreed......Many people in the United States treat animals like children, and it has a negative effect on the animal, especially dogs. Its sad....Don't believe me? Watch the Dog Whisperer.
He tells these people to knock that crap off.
Shes not serious about trucking, her attitude about it is transparent. Once again people, TRUCKING IS A LIFESTYLE, NOT AN 8 HOUR A DAY JOB. Get real with your priorities.
Maybe you would be better off working at Wal Mart......You can apply on line, good luck with that! -
ksouthard Thanks this.

yes i am a paralegal but certified in state of NJ I now live in az which means I have to take the state boards which cost 850 dollars just to take the test and another 1000 to keep it up to date for a year, I did say I was thinking about learning to drive if my husband doesn't get a job soon !!!!! I did not say I was thinking of going to a driving school and take on more debt that info was given to me as advice. I am also a medical biller and coder however there have been alot of layoffs and job eliminations in the medical field due to the new insurance laws so unless you are a doctor or nurse you are not safe I was also a correctional officer but got injured and can no longer go back there, which brings you up to speed on everything LOL I did say I will probably have no choice if hubby does not get hired somewhere soon although I am working it does not cover everything
