Are the 2014 Pete 587s getting the 9.9mpg's this article is talking about? Or are they going to be coming out in the future? The article is not clear on if this mileage is on the current ones spec'd with the isx15 motor or if it's gonna be in the future. I haven't heard of anyone getting anywhere near that mpg.
Peterbilt 587. Most fuel efficient truck on the road? 9.9mpg?

they pulled 65,000 pounds. we pull 80,000 pounds.
they drove 11 runs at 312 miles between mount vernon and fort worth. it's only 132 miles for the trip.
they pulled on flat land. and maybe at night with no traffic.Raiderfanatic Thanks this. -
I agree, the data are incomplete and misleading.

Cascadia evolution gets higher MPG. i want hose wheel covers though, they look bad donkey.

It's exaggerated over real world. I average about 7.1-7.3 with full 43k-46k loads OTR. Mine is a 2012 with an ISX15, but I don't need the goofy structures they are using to milk things.

How come my 18 year old, fully loaded truck passes all these fuel efficient late model trucks with higher torque specs up hills?
My guess is cut back, governed trucks equals higher mpgs. Turn that fuel up on those trucks and see what mpg they get.401-Alex Thanks this. -
A Pete getting good fuel Milage I never believe it even if I see it. That after owning a Pete Sorry Pete lovers I do not have faith in them

I do have to say my high torque high HP truck sips fuel for the most part all things considered I don't think 5.5-6 is that bad out of a 600 horse long hood. -
