I agree to a point. I've been driving a long time and have pulled virtually every type of trailer, except one: open deck. Hunt will get me the year experience I need to secure a higher paying position. I will also get over-sized load experience. Just like a rookie driver, I've got to do the time to make the dime!!!

Interesting how there is no feature here to deactivate one's account on this site. Also interesting to me through research I have gained the following information: This site was created and is maintained by recruiters, dispatchers and the like. Huh who woulda thunk it! lol

I'm sure if you contacted one of the recruiters, dispatchers, or the like they would gladly deactivate your account.

    Oh boy.....

    Forget working for HUNT TRANSPORTATION!!!

I just wasted an entire week in Omaha, NE going through what they called an "orientation." It was mostly garbage information and ramming bizarre company policy down our throats. For instance: they will NOT pay ANY layover until you sit for 48 hours minimum, and then you must sit another 24 to get 1 day layover day of $72.50. Wow.

Next, they only have the one terminal in Omaha. Therefore, the people screwing with you all week, are the same people you will work for. The recruiters got their ##### chewed while we were there for telling us too much information about some things and forgetting to tell us about other things. All 3 of us were told different information about everything.

They do have several types of trailers to work with, but they are all 53' long. Only the RGN's are shorter.

The biggest lie we were told was about our payscale. They offered me less money than I earned at Crete 9 years ago!!!

None of the current company drivers would talk to us about anything. When you are around the Hunt drivers, they spend all their time "walking on eggshells," as we would say. They are afraid that the conversation will get back to the safety department, namely, Brent. In all honesty, I felt like I was being interrogated by Adolf Hitler and his SS goons. It is ridiculous what we had to go through each day. Crete, Shaffer and Hunt drivers are all under the thumb of their safety department. It's bad.

Ever since a Crete drivers ran into a car with 5 children inside (back in 2005) and killed them, the company never recovered from the lawsuit a few years later. Crazy attorney's have turned them into a NAZI organization.

Now for the fun part!!! Penalties. Hunt has more reasons to dock your pay than you can believe!!! If you pump a gallon or more too much fuel from what they demand, it comes out of your pay. If you fuel at a different location, even if it costs the company less money, you get docked pay. If you fail to strict adherence of various minor company policies, you get docked pay or terminated!!! There are dozens of idiotic senarios that will cost you money or your job. They spend all week giving you lots of reasons not to work for them. By the end of the week, they are stunned that many drivers don't want to work for them!!!

I'm getting a headache, so I think I'll stop now. I believe you get the idea?

So glad I decided not to work for them. If you have open deck Experiance you should call sammons. I just finnished orientation and it was basically the exact opposite of what you just discribed.

I worked for Crete for 18 years. (14 years as owner op). Got off road in 2012 to assist my mother thru medical issues. Eventually got ready to go back to work. Checked into Hunt Transportation. Had good safety record with Crete. If I went to Hunt I would need to go with a trainer for 3 weeks to learn how to secure loads. So apparently Hunt does train their drivers. And if Crete/Hunt cut rates so bad, how is it they are debt free and buy all those new trucks and trailers all the time. Just giving a different perspective. Also the Acklie companies have about 20 terminals and Hunt drivers are welcome to use all of them as far as I know. And yes they run very legal. They do have rules but I knew what they were and if u comply you're ok. And it is Crete's way or the highway. They pay practical miles. Unlike many others I am finding out as I look around for my next job. Of course I hear Mercer's decent. I still have my tractor.
