easiest way is to get a flatbed so you don't have to do as much backing into docks.

I went from driving a Freightshaker Classic XL when pulling containers to now driving a Cascadia daycab. HELLO!! Can you say over compensate, lol. Did that for a while till I realized I wasn't backing the beast anymore. I used to just kinda lean my head out the window, never opened the door.

you just have not backed the right truck yet nor have you had to hit that hole just right.it will happen during your next 7 years.

being a self taught backer,as in no driving school, opening doors and/or standing on the steps was, at one time, second nature.i am willing to bet that many a driver has done and will do the same-

it says that you have been around but have you really? that is not an accurate statement.right truck/right spot/right hole and you too shall open that door for a better back.

if not,all hail the supreme driver of drivers-123456

In all the years Ive drove a hood--I typically open the drivers door--I am just more comfortable that way--BUT--I know--at least in my case you do not have to--I know this because being the delicate individual I am--that when the weather is poor(rain-snow etc)I know being prone to melting as I am--I just use my mirrors!--LOL
But it usually takes a little longer!

I hear that, but with the multitude of newbies around I gave an honest answer. I miss my old K100E, it ran hard and rode worse.

I had to get in a narrow cab Kenworth the other day and yeah, it's harder to back with those than the more ergonomic trucks. I had the door open and was still putting the trailer too shallow to driver's side.

Docks or no Docks....there is still more backing than you think with a skateboard! I can't remember the name of the place I drop coils at, but it's a 90 degree blind side in the door. And there are plenty of mills that I have had to back into to drop or pick up....and with a '94 379 pete with 10" stacks....is rather a challenge and I love that.

I had an '04 W900 a few years ago. Made me look like a noob quite a few times. The pull up is your friend! lol I had to hang out the door to see around the stacks and I'm 6'2". I'm in an '11 Volvo now and it feels like a minivan.. I don't break out in cold sweat when I'm sent to LA anymore..lol
Don't sweat it. Take your time and use the pull up to get under the trailer.
