Office duty about 6 hours a day with 1 hour for lunch. Normally goes in at 9-10 and leaves by 4. He'll prabaly retire in a few years.
I'd love to have those hours

With 40 trucks he should be running have his own customers and his own authority.
Fratsit, BAYOU and Clasix1055 Thank this. -
Don't take a load going to Minnesota, this agent up here seems to want to keep all her eggs in one basket and rely on one cheap paying customer to get us all back out of here.
I just called her and asked her why she's not booking loads out of the two shingle companies up here, she replied with "its just to much work for us for the payoff we get out of it" My reply to her was wouldn't it be better than having trucks sitting around making nobody anything or bouncing out of here to go pickup freight off of other agents in other states? She said "its just to much work for us, not really worth it"
This kind of lazy bs is why I am having trouble getting out of the house and keeping my revenue per mile were it should be, instead of were it is. The thing is, I shouldn't have to stay out 3-4 weeks just to run my overall rate per mile up to offset the high bounce miles everytime I want to leave the house. Maybe its time I put my services to work with an organization that is willing to work to make money, and not just looking for the easy way and waiting for the phone to ring.
And according to her booking loads from these to companies up here is all done online. How hard can that really be? And the bigger question that remains is, how much other business are we not getting up here because its not easy or convienient for her?Last edited: Jun 18, 2013
Cbake84 Thanks this. -
He likes getting paid for every load

Orie seems to like those LTL loads. -
I don't mind putting LTL's together if the pay and destinations make sense. I think the only thing she likes is to sit back and play office and wait for the phone to ring. From my conversation with her earlier she basically said she doesn't want to work for her money, thats what I gathered from it anyhow.

How can I put this without sounding rude.....Having 40 trucks and leasing on with a carrier is like swimming fully clothed wearing steel toe boots....you can do it .... but you look a tad bit foolishvolvodriver01 Thanks this.

Maybe he doesn't want to have to hire employees, put up with all the hassle of paperwork, front untold thousands or dollars before ever getting paid, and spend every waking hour stressing over the trucks, getting loads, and hopefully getting paid. If he's making money, and not having to devote his whole life to the business like he would on his own, more power to him.
I bet he's making just as much as he would on his own with 1/10 the stress.Flightline and Blind Driver Thank this. -
Forty trucks is a pretty good sized operation IMO, if he surrounded himself with a good staff that could more or less run the show without him there everyday, he could live without all the stress, and be money ahead.Blind Driver Thanks this.

His son is going to take over the business very soon. Maybe I'll be around to see what changes take place
