NO one is drinking koolaid buddy. YOU just don't have a clue about this. When did you ever pull for Prime? The answer is never, so you're just repeating truckstop bravo sierra. If you actually spent some time with us, you'd change your mind.

Interesting point. However, the NTSB and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration made it clear that there was no correlation between having sleep apnea and incidents. I will be ore than happy to post the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration study.

We all have heard of unfortunate events where a driver is either not paying attention or falls asleep and plows into a car. People try to force themselves to stay awake using useless products like 5-Hour energy. When you push yourself to exhaustion bad things will happen. That is %100 guaranteed!! It does not matter if you have sleep apnea or not! People snore sometimes lol.

When there is a wreck they can pull the trucks on board CPU and see EVERYTHING and match it up to your logs and other information.

What is next. No more soda pop in the truck or eating at PETRO Buffets lol.

The stick needs to be pointed at personal responsibility and safety.....not at a driver that snores LOL. (I am loling my brains out now)

That's like saying If you wear glasses you really shouldn't be driving a truck. After all vision is pretty important. Treated sleep apnea is not a problem.

The medical community (not the bureaucrats at FMCSA or the weigh station... who seem to think they are brain surgeons by government fiat) - you know, the guys who actually study medical science for years before they're allowed to drive a tongue depressor - think that it's a serious health problem.

I know this is going to sound a bit sarcastic, but science does advance... meaning the way they did things 500 years ago (bleeding you with leaches) might actually change based on new research. For example... they might actually find out that one of the major reasons folks do not get good restorative sleep is because they stop breathing in their sleep. And that research might actually point to sleep interruptions being a major cause for many other medical problems.

I mean... it could happen ya know?

The sleep study is nothing more than another sweet tax write off and a huge money maker these companies use.
Just like the "Fleece Purchase Programs."

On one hand they want to act like they care about your sleep. They dont.

I double dare you to refuse to pick up a load because you are tired or push up your delivery time at a job site or dock because you sat at a shipper all day. YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN! You will be retaliated on or brought back to the terminal and put out of your truck!! I have seen it happen to drivers!

While waiting at the customer to be loaded or unloaded, most drivers log that time in the sleeper berth. Basically, as soon as they show the sleeper berth in their logbook, they are on their “break.” Once 10 hours of break time has been reached, they are able to drive again. But as stated before, shippers and receivers can often take 4 hours or more to finish loading or unloading. So that 10 hour break normally reserved for sleeping, quickly turns into 6 hours. Add on another hour to find a parking spot, another 30 minutes to grab a shower, and maybe if there’s time, another 30 minutes to grab a meal. Where did that 10 hour break go? Four hours of sleep is sometimes all you get.

How exactly is that? Prime contracts with a third-party to perform sleep studies, and only provides use of a company facility to that third party in return for a reduction in the cost to the driver. As far as I know that savings is passed on to the driver completely.

Let's stay on topic, shall we?

How would you know anything about this at Prime? Perhaps at the loser carrier you're hooked up with.

Perhaps you have seen drivers get put out of trucks at the POS carrier you're with for the slightest infraction. This statement alone indicates you don't know Jack S. about what happens here. If it's a time critical load, they work out a repower. If not, they reset the appointment. Now that's not saying that a driver can continually blow appointments, nor should that be allowed to persist. However, if on occasion you become dangerously tired, dispatch will work with you to get you into a safe place to get some sleep.

Like I mentioned before, let's keep this on-topic. It's not a discussion of your version of the Hours of Service, and how they apply to you in your truck.

I'm in CDL classes and I can tell this guy is a moron. You don't seem to understand how the sleeper berth times actually work. You can't take a 4 and a 6. You have to have 8 consecutive hours off.
