Why does UPS package make so much money? I guess they have their own deal with the Teamsters and all, but dam that is a lot of money plus benefits too.

There is more than one reason, however UPS package has absolutely ZERO competition in their field, fedex is not their competitor, they simply have no competition when it comes to parcel. They are big enough that they can piss off a customer and not b too concerned. when it comes to UPS Freight, any LTL carrier can be a potential competitor. I am not trying to suck butt however UPS parcel drivers earn their cash, if you slack there , you will be gone. -
Doing a 100-130 stops a day carrying heavy packages does a lot to you. Working at fedex ground I did the same work they did but they made a lot more and to me it wasn't worth it at fedex. Especially carrying all that heavy stuff up stairs and all, spending the day walking around a mall delivering. They deff earn their money they make.
i think Con-Way has completely brainwashed you CC. -
100-130 stops a day? That means 100-130 customers I have to deal with. No thank you. I am glad I clicked on the "linedriver" application instead of P&D. Turns out, we never did hire a new P&D guy anyway. I got more luck than anything, that's for sure.

Some do more, almost 200+ stops and thats no bull! I know a 120lb female that outworks me everyday. -
" He said if it was PArcel he wouldve just dealt with it, but hes back at YRC after a 4 year layoff from the merge. He was a dock worker and his terminal had a different union thn teamsters for them. "
Just curious, I see you were saying a YRC terminal has a different union than the Teamsters for the dock workers. Could you elaborate on that? I am not surprised at anything the unions are allowing to happen now-a-days but still.......... -
@markstevens oh I know. I helped a friend out one day during peak season when I was on layoff. We did 245 stops. We started at 8am and were done at 430. All stops were really close together so it works fast plus there's two of us lol. He normally averaged 150 regular, it's the easiest route he owns.road_runner and Marksteven Thank this. -
I worked for FedEx Express for 6 months. I'll never do it again nor would I go to UPS. I don't care how much they paid me! I knew what the UPS guys were making cause we had a lot of the same customers. UPS would be loading a lot more stuff but I was fine with that. Every UPS parcel guy I talked to hated their job. Same at FedEx.
Marksteven Thanks this. -
I dont know about them hating there job but lets not forget the countless surgeries most of those drivers have been thru due to repetitious lifting and exiting the van. Not to say us LTLers havent been hurt. I have had 3 surgeries so far from peddling injuries.cool35 Thanks this.
