Ok, my turn. My brother is headed for the Dallas school asap.
He has scoliosis, and had back surgery years ago to correct this. They straightened his spine by fusing his vertebrae into one bone and adding titanium brace rods on either side. This does not seem to hinder him from a normal active life, despite being unable to bend between his neck and hips. He naturally will disclose this info -- it'd be hard to hide a scar running from the base of his neck to his tailbone.
Any guesses if this will keep him from driving? The Doc gave him full work ability, aside from not lifting heavy objects over his head.
Also, he just found out he needs his gallbladder out. Scheduling the surgery tomorrow. They say its minorly invasive, He'll be back on his feet in a couple days.
How long will Stevens bench him for?

Gallbladder should jot he a major issue... I had three hernias repaired threte months prior to coming... this was invasive, I spent 4 days in the hospital and they reopened and incision from my breast plate to my balls give or take... I just brought a copy of my discharge summary and a copy of the Operative report from the surgeon which Dr B put in my file and all was good.
Not sure about the back question. -

Well, being sent home from stevens. Im on medicine the company doesn't like. My meds are DOT legal, had a physical last year. I have no side effects and they do not affect me driving a truck. Kind of discriminating but there are other companies though, take my 4 years experience to someone else. Said I could come back if I changed the meds or got off of them. Doesn't make sense when they are perfectly legal with the DOT. Oh, well, i wish all the new guys in my orientation good luck.

I appreciate that guys. Working on other companies now. Crete offered me .41 cent a mile with 4 years experience. Keeping fingers crossed. LoL!

), I would say to check out my employer.
Good luck -
I looked into maverick, not sure I want to do flatbed though. I got apps in everywhere, I may have to take a refresher course since I have been out for a year before most will hire me. The VA will pay for it though if I take a refresher course.

Maverick does have a Temp Control division. I have seen them mostly in the east, but the one driver I did talk to when we were in adjoining doors getting unloaded was from Chicago and he said they do run a lot of.meat loads.
