mega carriers are good companies to get your experience if you choose to get your experience that way but expect low pay, poor treatment and all kinda unhuman things for your first year and then go from there, Good luck driver.

usx was pretty good to me, was just there back in may/june, just dont expect to get a shiny new truck, or even a manual for that matter. usx is very short on trucks at the moment, and they were sending ppl into the field to get trucks. they seem to like giving automatics to newbies. otherwise its a pretty good company from my experience.

Just what we need, rookies trained in automatics. Usx give me the worst problems for tailgating, cutting me off, boxing me in and general ignorance. If you do drive for them, try to change that image.

My wife and I had a good experience there. If you have a good attitude you should do well

they seemed to reserve the manuals as team or training trucks, so i imagine the rookies were being trained in manuals, and the solos were given the automatics

Ask yourself this; if everyone telling you how good USX is, no longer works there, .....uh!

You live in Ohio, you have many good options & don't have to settle with starter companies. Many good companies hire new CDL grads & don't advertise & their websites say "experience required", but they still sometimes hire new CDL grads. Apply with many, many companies. You will make much more money annually with a good flatbed or tanker company.

I've worked for them for two years now. Never have any problems with the company. They've never treated bad at all.

As far as training companies go they are one of the better ones. I didn't start with them.

The trucks are in excellent shape. As Craig said, there are very few company automatics still in service. Most automatics go to lease ops. L/O's can train so there is a possibility of being trained on an auto.

When I started they gave me a brand spanking new midroof Pete. Then I switched to teams and got a 2012 FL. I am now in a 2011 FL. All those are manual.

I trained in a 2012 Cascadia stick. Wife trained in a 2010 Pete auto. Our truck is a 2013 ProStar stick.

I drove an auto Volvo at Tunnel Hill. Wouldn't mind having one:biggrin_255:
