Shift it like a 9 speed then on your last gear run the rpms up about 200 put the selector in 13 release fuel then get back on it no need go through all the gears your not loaded

From what I'm reading here gear jam .. You think it's harder than it is. This isn't a physics test at school. Or rocket science.. Quit thinking about it, you can do it, if any questions ask, if you never drove a tranny tell them sorry I'm not familliar with this as I've never drove one. And most will gladly teach you how to do it..and you will pick it up. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are the best frigin driver in the world and go do it. It just takes time to go from a beginner to an old hand. We are talking about driving a truck. Don't worry.. You will do fine.

Many moons ago, back when I was a young pup, I picked up a job driving a dump truck with a 13spd RoadRanger in it. My neighbor taught me how to shift the gears while sittin on his front porch..

Everything was fine for a few weeks, then coming out of the asphalt plant, I 'spun the rear end' and had no forward go.. SO, they told me to hop on down, tossed me a set of keys and pointed at a Mack dumptruck and told me to go over to Merritt Island, FL to a jobsite.. I climbed up in that truck and saw twins sticks.. No pattern on the knobs, no decals on the dash.. I managed to get it rolling out of the yard and headed to Cocoa. Well, there's a bridge between Cocoa and Merritt Island that I swear goes #### near straight up.. And some sick civil engineer decided to put a stop light right at the bottom of that bridge and here I come grabbin sticks tryin to make that light.. No luck.. Pole position was all mine for the next green.. Three other big trucks were in my rear view.. I swear I must have gone through 34 gears getting to the top of that bridge.. Some I don't even think existed.. I ground off about 15 years of heavy usage off those gears and all I kept sayin was "PLEASE DON'T STALL OUT ON THIS HILL!!" THose truckers rolled on by like they had thier trucks on cruise control I swear..

Next day I got a call for an engineering job and never looked back..

the thing with trucking... You can always find a job. So when things get slow at what you normally do. You can at least hop back in that truck.. Until you find another job. It must have been interesting learning with no decals or anything. These kids think they have problem with a 10 or 13 or what ever.. A set of sticks were a whole different animal. And you learned how to park on the side of the road so you could start all over again when you really screwed up a gear shift. Or get the brownie locked in between gears.

Hey guys, is there anything I need to know in regards to NOT splitting gears and driving a 13 speed like a nine? Do the rpms need to be higher then the usual about 1100, 1200 rpms? Or is everything still the same? Thanks guys!
