Has 1 gallon capacity, will go about 5 hours on high idle or up to about 7 hours on eco idle. I fill up a 2 gallon gas can and top the generator off whenever I get out of the sleeper for bathroom/food/walk the dog breaks during the 10 hour break.
I have learned that I have to idle the truck for a while to get the interior down at or below 86 degrees and also have to run the generator at high idle for about 20-30 minutes til the A/C unit does what I call 'prime's' itself, in other words, starts pumping out cold air, then can switch generator over to eco idle til it is time to go to work. I top off the fuel while the generator is still running so I won't have to go through the 'prime' routine again FYI.

Than some of the China made generators? They sure are.
I think his point was, that the generator is normally level with the sleeper of the truck next door, where a reefer etc are normally behind the sleeper area.

My reefer and my generator are about equal. My generator actually sits directly below the right side of the reefer where my tire rack used to be. If the reefer is off, and nobody is idling, it probably is pretty loud (it's not as smooth a sound as a reefer). However, a reefer benefits from being enclosed. Open up those doors and listen to it high RPM down to cool and you won't think reefers are quieter than a generator.
Usually, if i know I'm going to be running the generator where people won't idle, I'll find a spot to nose in or I probably wouldn't use it either, as the weather is probably good. For the first time in a while, I parked back in next to a guy and at 83F when shut down, still ran the generator. Both my reefer and his truck were running. If my generator could make it over both of those sounds inside his truck, then he'd have trouble sleeping anywhere with a lot of side traffic. -
What about using an inverter/charger, like one found inside an RV, alongside with a generator?

Especially if the generators like these little Hondas could somehow be wired up for an automatic start/stop when voltage reaches a certain point. When at home, you could also plug the inverter/charger in to an extension cord to keep your batteries charged and your 110v fridge, etc., cool.scottied67 Thanks this.
