so your problem isn't with brokers, it's with mercer. got it. so where did all this hate for mercer come from anyway?
oh and another question, did you ever sell your extra equipment? if I recall correctly you had a couple trucks and trailer sitting. -
At that time freight had dropped off for me 60% and was hard to find freight over the $2/mi mark so my way of thinking was that if I leased onto someone like mercer they would not only have more freight but better paying freight at that,"boy was I wrong" I looked at the board alot many of the places I was driving to I was checking on there board to see how it compared 80% of the loads I seen paid $1.48-$1.70/mi the longer the runs the cheaper they paid.
I was not impressed at all seemed like they didn't care about finding new customers are better paying freight and they had a take it or leave it attitude. My driver would dead head 200 miles out of a area that would have 1,000s of loads on ITS even had loads picking up and dropping from and to the places he was dead heading. I'm just saying some people act like its the best company for O/O and I just don't see it and if you really go back and start reading I know of five drivers now that have left Kwoscar being one of them. All I'm saying is guys on here talk it up but the grass ant greener on the other side!!
On the 2nd note I've sold everything besides one truck and two trailers I've got tarps left and a few binders. I have a friend coming Thursday to get a headache rack and some other stuff but its really ol most all gone now. I have two sets of 3pc 8ft tarps I'd sale. -
I'm one of those that say I wished I'd come over here years ago, for me it is better than I've had it in years. in fact better than all but one year, (04 I think it was when we got hammered with hurricanes, I got on some fema stuff that lasted 4 months, 7 days a week. probably won't ever see that kind of money again). with mercer ive only pulled one load that was in the price range you mention, and that one was under 5k lbs, no tarp out of the Orlando area. everything else has been over or near 2 bucks/mile. like the one I just dropped today, outside beaumont, 2.86/mile. 32k lbs, no tarp. out of the Bristol,tn area. had a total of 7 stops on it tho so took a while to get down here, but at that rate was worth the extra time invested. now my reload back east isn't so great, it's just under 2/mile, 40k lbs plus.tarp and can't pick up till thursday so I'm spending the next two days in a hotel. but in my opinion it averages out to a good profitable round trip.
I was really surprised to see Oscar go. I know he had been having problems getting loaded out of the house, and I just don't understand that, would of guessed iowa to be a decent area.
I just don't get how two people( or four) can have totally different experiences. -
Coordinators only coordinate. If you rely on your coordinator to dispatch, you will most likely fail.
My lesson has been learned. I am a very good dispatcher so far -
I don't really look at a multiple drop load by the mile because receivers are not open but from 7-5 at most places some even stop receiving around 3:30. A legal load could of dropped in a day in a half one pick one drop and paid around the $2/mi mark instead your taking all week to move your load that pays $2,800 or so. Yes I charge $100 each stop but my per mile rate goes up $.25/mi or so depending on how far the drops are apart but if you picked it up Monday your still not doing bad.
if you want to get out ill buy you lunch or a beer I'm at home my trucks in the shop all week!! -
I think bayou hotshot still has anger issues with Mercer. If you read back through this Mercer thread, you'll see he stays on here bashing Mercer even after being knock for not giving Mercer a chance and practiacally be asked to go away.
Most mercer drivers don't have the time to go on here. And every Mercer driver that stays 6 months (long enough to figure out the system) stay and love it here.
I just can hardly beleive he has so little to do than to watch for oppertunity to bash Mercer when he's no longer at Mercer.
No doubt some do not make it at Mercer, they usually are very unhappy everywhere they go till they get out of the business. -
The only problem I have is there too chicken shiiii to show you the board until your leased on. Each has its own and would love to put my numbers up against anyone leased to mercer, only reason I see being leased to someone is just being lazy and just can't do it with out someone holding there hand just my $.02 -
he forgets that we also told he wasn't a fit for mercer, and that by he own admission the driver he had ran the show instead of him. he continually compares apples to oranges, a guy with his own authority to a guy leased somewhere, like I said the billy bass, just plays the same old song over and over.
-
there ya go again, apples to oranges , over and over. and ya know bayou several of us have has authority before and have reached the age where we want to pull back a little. I been there and got the t-shirt. you seemed obsessed with everyones numbers and your numbers.
for someone who toots his own horn to be a freight getting genius at such fantastic rates you sure seem a fellow who wallows in misery and discontent. I hope one day you find your way out of misery.
spyder, you hit the nail on the head .
