It's 10 year work history. Doesn't have to be truck related.

What if you worked for twelve years then were unemployed for three?

Not to hijack, but I have an issue here too. I just got an assault charge and have not even gone to court yet. I just got my CDL in May. Could this ruin my trucking career before it has started?

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Misdemeanor assault isn't that bad. Some will give you a hard time, but most wont. Now if its a felony assault then you will have more problems. Just list it on your application so their won't be any surprises if they call you up to orientation. Also if its domestic violence assault. You will have to take some classes and do community service. So might want to get that out of they way before you get hired on to a company.

I did try active Army a few years back, never got past meps. I was 1lb overweight and got sent home by the doc, I just never went back. I guess that is an option, but I'm not sure I want to go through BT to drive a truck.

This seems like solid advice, I might just go down that road, but it's expensive.

I'll be honest, there are so many LEGAL ways to make money in this country that holding down a 9-5 is almost a joke (if it only pays minimum wage). It's basically punishing those capable of thinking outside the box.

Now that I've responded to posts I missed, I'll be honest, I'm getting real discouraged here. It seems like I need to jump through 500 hoops here to even be given an opportunity, and maybe that's the way it should be. I am capable of earning money on my own LEGALLY, I don't need to drive I want to drive. I don't have much else to say, but I appreciate the response (good or bad). To me though, it seems like it used to be so much easier to get a starting job in this industry. And that immigrants get a clean slate and are basically handed these jobs. Not that it matters, but I'm leaning more towards funding my own education HOPING to get a job when I'm done.
