I haven't placed any online apps because I have nothing to put down on work history other than jobs I had when I was a teenager. I don't even have a reference to the people I worked under at that time as they're all gone now or the company doesn't even exist anymore. It's really a catch 22.

On work history, put down unemployed & can furnish affidavit.
-
You don't have your location on your profile.
These companies will hire you if you're in the hiring area & if you completed a CDL school. Again, don't call, fill out an online application.
Paschall Truck Lines

Do not give up, for I feel your not a quitter and only quitters give up. When one turns you down there will be another. -
I really hate to jack your thread OP, and am interested in an update from you, but Im bumping this question because it is my exact situation and Im looking through past threads for an answer before I start a new one. Id hate to create a redundant thread if I can help it. I have to add that I already have a current/valid CDL-A, for the past 10 years. The 3 years of unemployment is what Im curious about. -
If your experience isn't recent. Most will make you take a refresher course. Then go out with a trainer for so many weeks or miles. But you will have to give company a reason why you where unemployed for 3 years and what you were doing. Normally something notarized by family members and such. Just have to call the companies you are interested in. To see what they require.
JayV Thanks this. -
Bottom Line: You need a 3 year work history in some line of work to get your foot inside the door to be able to either go to a cdl school and drive a truck. That is the law.
You could try the affidavit route also.

Most anything will "Qualify" as stable work history....take for example my case, I obtained my CDL in 07 after working for the state of Washington there at the penitentiary in Walla Walla for 15 years or (stretch). I did not have to disclose that I was a federal inmate of the state, before getting my first driving job.

It is very unlikely that an individual would get by with that one today. You definitely deserve credit for pulling that one off.JayV Thanks this.

I know I need to talk to them directly for confirmation of policy and requirements, Im just curious if anyone here has any direct knowledge/experience in it, in the meantime.
Im wondering if just because I wanted to be and I was working on personal activities and/or affairs would be sufficient enough reasons for a trucking company. This is why Im curious if the requirement for a lack of unemployment is limited to company/insurance policy or if it is in fact the law like mje said. If its law then I can expect all of them to have a minimum requirement but if its just policy then I can expect that it can vary a bit between them.
This is the part Im not understanding completely. I get the 3 year part but is that in reference to the most recent 3 years exclusively or just a minimum of 3 years, somewhere within the past 10 years? My solid stretch of 12 years worth of work history (that ends 3 years ago) doesnt matter much because of the gap?
P.S. I cant believe this is so confusing to me right now. Ive done all of this before and drove a little bit of OTR a decade ago. Just curious about some clarifications and thanks for your patience and responses. Im diggin the forum, its been a quality read for the better part of the day.
