So long USA

    Well im waiting in San Antonio for my last load to get me back towards Dallas so I can finish cleaning out my truck and get it turned in. (So if anyone wants a good running 2010 Pete then it should be at the Denton terminal soon)

    Just a quick recap for any one looking to start here at USA or those just getting going.

    I came here through C1 with the intent of getting my CDL and some experience and moving on to a local job hauling Hazmat Tankers that would get me home a decent amount as well as make me some good money. I fulfilled those goals and will look back at my experience here as a enjoyable learning experience. Although if I was going to stay OTR I would not be looking to leave USA.

    My experience here has been to work hard, keep you nose clean and pick your battles wisely and you will do good.
    USA has been good to me for my 1.5 years here and I leave with pretty much only good things to say. Everything is never going to go your way with any job all the time.
    But I have no complaints with the way I was treated during my time here.

    As for picking your battles , the one I picked was hometime , I expected to be home on time everytime and In 17 months I was late home 1 time, but that means I took the loads assigned to me as long as I had the hours. Even then during my time here counting hometime and breakdowns I was still able to average around 2300 miles a week.

    I like to ask hands like you, ' Was the job about what you expected it to be ' ?
    Was it worth the effort to get a year under your belt to find a better job?
    What was the hardest thing to get used to ?

    I got a feeling that your success has a lot more to do with you than with USA. This industry needs more guys like you and welcome to the world of tankers. :biggrin_25525:

    Well to answer the second question, it was absolutely worth it to put myself in a position to make good money and still be around the house a decent amount of time.

    The job was pretty much what I expected, there were bad days and good days, just have to keep a level head and treat the people in the company with respect,

    Don't let them push you around but take care of business in a respectful way.


    The hardest thing to get used to was probably learning to deal with the different departments (fleet managers , breakdown etc) to get them to do what you need them to do.

    Yer gonna probably run more miles as a local driver. That's why I left USA, 2300 miles in a 7 day week is pathetic. That's how they do it though, they want you to leave so they can start out a green driver for .25 a mile in your truck. Sorry excuse for a company, glad to hear you're leavin. Good luck!!
