Sitting on my couch at home being I need another back surgery thanks to trailer landing gear not properly greased. On medical leave but I probably won't be able to go trucking again afterwards. Back to working towards my PH.D looks like.

 

There should not be grease on the legs of the landing gear, just in the gearbox. Putting grease on the legs collects dirt which makes the legs tougher to raise and lower. It also hardens in the winter, making it even worse yet.
Things that also help keep the landing gear working smoothly.
Don't drop the trailler on it, crank it down until you hear the tractor airbags adding air.
Before backing under it, crank the trailer down so that the legs are lifted up off the ground and not dragged across the pavement bending them.
Use only low gear whenever the legs are touching the ground. As the crank handles and rods get old they weaken and break easier.
Take .5 seconds and either hang up the crank or at least drop it down so it does not get backed into sticking out.
these simple things only take a minute and can save your andeveryone elses backs. That along with properly cranking the handle.

Dont feel bad. I only got 3100 this week after I get my current load in tomorrow morning. I ended up sitting at a dealer in Carlisle for a day and a half getting a tie rod replaced on my 2013.

 

FYI to anyone planning to travel south on I95. The entire southbound side is closed from Washington well into VA for road construction. All 4 lanes of traffic gets crammed into the HOV lane so you better take US 301 instead. Your E-ZPass will pay for the Harry W Nice Bridge.

 

how did they figure out something was going on with the tierod? I have a 2013 also
