Thank you. I'm not doing this for the money but a career change. I should have done this in 2004 but I didn't listen to myself but to others. I want to learn and keep learning and do the best that I can. I love driving. I love the open road.

I'd carefully consider the comment on the NE region being saturated at prime. Talk to drivers in that region . . . any on here?

Good pont...does the AI report mean anything? I see that Stevens has a better AI report on safety.

Either will be fine. Just depends which meets your needs better.

To be honest, these were my two choices to go with. Why did I choose Stevens over Prime?
Believe it or not, because they got back to me first. In already had a date set up for reporting to Dallas and had been talking to Stevens for a good 8 - 10 days before Prime got around to calling me back.
Since I had already agreed to Stevens offer, I stuck with it. That's just me though. I believe in honoring my commitments and had already told them I would be in Dallas on the given date.
I have no regrets. I am not saying I am glad I didn't go to Prime, I am saying though I am satisfied with my decision to come to Stevens.
Again, I hope you find the same satisfaction in your decision. -
Prime raising pay a cent-per-mile for company drivers, 4 cents for leased owner-operators:

I have had a lot of ups and downs with Stevens, through it all I really have no regrets about my choice to work for them. If I had to go back and do it over again I would change a few choices I have made the biggest one being the lease. I should have waited like I originally told myself I would I am not knocking the lease program at all I am now finally making money but those first several months of the learning curve The reasons I CAN positively give for waiting to lease is 1. Learning the freight lanes and how Stevens operates. 2. Finding out who's who and will be beneficial for you (If I help this person out what will they do for me down the road) may not be on the back end of that trip but there are a few people within stevens that remember and honor what they say. MOST IMPORTANT is do what you say your going to do. Run your load smart and dont dawdle and diddle around like many drivers do. Yes there are specific DMs for the lease side of the house but the loads are not assigned based upon lease or company from what I see and understand through talking to people "inside" the house. The training wheels never come off and you always have "mother" (compliance) over your shoulder but it is all there to protect the company AND you. 3. Personalities....just like any other big corporation there are those you dont want to deal with and those that you click great with just be professional and dont lose your cool or cuss em out. Be asssertive in your needs and wants and understand what the company needs and wants are. Lean to balance the two giving here and there and taking here and there and you will thrive at Stevens. I cannot speak from experience about prime but I do have a very good friend that just started driving for them as an IC and he is all ready ming noises about coming back to Stevens after only 3 weeks with Prime. That kind of says a lot to me. I am not brainwashed and I know I have other choices to make down the road. I probably wont retire from Stevens but the foundations that are taught to you and the opportunities/experience that are provided will greatly benefit you down the road. Good luck driver in whatever your choice is

What are the past raises like at Stevens? I know they start out at $.26 cpm, but how long before that goes up?
