No, obviously you are not alone. I hate night driving. I'm at the age my eyes don't serve me as well as they once did. In addition to getting sleepy at night, I hate not seeing what's ahead of me. Well, what's more than 1/4 mile ahead of me I should say. It seems like every stump or gator on the side of the road is a buffalo or a bear getting ready to jump out in front of me.

my best driving is night. used to run hard. now i don't.

besides. you can't find a place to park anyways. so go drive until daylight. when everyone else goes to work. then you'll have a place to park.

the only lousy thing. is running the a/c while your sleeping during the day.

Driving nights takes time to adjust to. I have numerous ways of staying awake. I can drive all night no problem most of the time. When I have a problem I smack my leg don't believe it try it. Lol. Then again I rarely have to do that. Kinda hard to fall asleep when you kill a cigarette every 4 miles and the next one is lit before you flick the one you were smoking out the window.

Smoking wouldn't help you anyway it makes you more tired believe it or not. I'd say its just going to take more time to get used to it. My dad ran nights for 5 years straight always had problems staying awake. We ran across is at night a few times running grain. I think the only reason he didn't have problems falling asleep was because he was more worried about tagging a deer.

Keep your eyes moving and the cab dark. I turn my Cb down sometimes even turn the display off, dash lights are barely lit, and my eyes are always moving. Don't stare at headlights ever. They do make me tired and I drink a lot of coffee. It helps if you're a coffee drinker if not tea works as well but you'll pull over every 100 miles to pee. Keeping yourself occupied at night is the easiest way to stay awake.

If all else fails pop some ray Carlisle in the CD player. That'll always keep you awake you'll be laughing so hard it'll darn near make you pee yourself. And I guarantee it lol

I love driving at night, no traffic. However I HATE THE HEADLIGHTS. And the idiots that think they need 4 headlights to see where they are going. Those fog light only shine in front of the bumper, NOT DOWN THE ROAD. And those HID blind me lights. What the F....!!!! Good thing I have power mirrors. RRRRRRR!!!!

Sorry, I love driving at night, just not the head lights.

Not exactly the same as a truck, but I've done a lot of driving in my car, and I've found when I have to drive through the night peppermint or cinnamon candies or gum work really well to keep me awake.

But, you're not alone with having trouble at night. My boyfriend complains bitterly any time he has to drive through the night.

Running FedEx loads ,#### near everything is night driving. At first it was difficult but I have grown used to day sleep and night running. Sat radio and ##### menthols get me where I'm going good and alert. If I get tired I hit a ramp and take a pee and stretch for a few minutes.

I have to meter my caffeine really well, If I drink too much, it makes me really tired. I can only really take about a half a can of energy drink at a time... I would drink two every night and got more and more and more tired, felt like I had the flu... was terrible...

Also try and eat a bit better, I found that nectarines and carrots make me feel much more energetic for days... I only have to eat them once of twice a week... I have also tried just about every vitamin... its worth it to pay for high end ones or go to GNC. I feel like a different person...

This is another good tip I use... It always amazes me how much better I feel turning the dash lights down if im starting to fatigue. It sounds counter-productive but your using primarily your eyes and if their strained you will be too.

I actually don't have any issues driving at night and really I prefer it. I sleep better during the day as long as its cool in the truck plus the benifits of less traffic hassles and more parking options during the day. Those last minute to park guys love us night riders as we tend to open up really good parking spots in the evening. I was once told because I did have a problem with my eyes getting heavy that I should first try maxing out my electrolytes by I taking as much poweraid/gatoraid as possible. The lack of sufficient electrolytes causes drowsiness and I'll be ###### if it didn't acutally work. I just make sure I load up while I'm home and piss it all out before I get ready to leave so I'm not stopping to piss as much but drink on a bottle regularly.

But hey, if all else fails, just pretend your truck is loaded full of drugs and every pair of headlights you see behind you is a cop. Your sure to stay awake then! :biggrin_2559:
