Wtf? Really? What is your company telling you to do? Let me ask you this.. If you reported it to your company (the temp differences) and they did the right thing..load is possibly contaminated and it needs to be disposed of..
would you save a couple cases of chicken, re freeze it? And feed it to your parents? Wife? Kids?
Report it to the company, that's what insurance us for! Or sit in a truck stop for a few days, bring it back down to temp..deliver it and watch the news!
If there is a tattle tale in the trailer, it's a lost cause anyway!
UNBELIEVABLE!! How do I cool it back down?! IdiotDragonTamerBrat, RedForeman and flightwatch Thank this. -
Not an idiot...inexperienced. He probably drives for a mega, and is scared that they'll blame him....either that or they are telling him to do it.

Sniff sniff...I smell a troll NOBODY would ever ask a question this stupid.
Now I've heard of frozen haulers turning the unit up to 0 instead of running it at -10 and then turning it down -10 an hour away but nothing this ridiculous in my entire life.
That would be like a flatbedder not putting any securement on a coil and then posting in the flatbed forum asking how that coil rolled off the trailer and killed a family of 4. -
Load is lost, hopefully you reported the issue at 9am when you first saw it was hot. DO NOT TRY TO SNEAK THAT LOAD IN!!! If you do and it is somehow accepted you could end up poisoning half the state. If the receiver decides they want it anyways then it's on them.
Who is the receiver so I know not to buy any chicken from them for a while?vikingswen, VisionLogistics and skootertrashr6 Thank this. -
That is what I was thinking and where is the load going? I'll remember not to buy chicken for a while. Good Luck!!DragonTamerBrat Thanks this.

Yeah, at this point, you can't make the drop and hope it's not caught... why? Because you've announced it here in public and at this point have demonstrated willful intent, which will get you slammed hard if someone gets sick or dies from it. It's not worth it man... Claim it. If you have reefer breakdown coverage, and can prove it was a unit failure (ask for proof at the trailer shop who fixed it), you will only have to face a deductible. That's a lot cheaper than all of the alternatives, plus you'll sleep better at night.
Good luck. -
Whoooo kids slow down--read post TWICE first 26deg is FRESH CHICKEN NOT FROZEN second poster said set at 26deg loaded read 60--not unusual im thinking this is Fresh Kill that was only slightly precooled or very short time in blast and still had high internal temp next morning was only down to box temp of 43--probably should have come down quicker but again NOT UNUSUAL--Not gonna say I haven't misread or OP isn't being clear??But I do not believe it was ever at 26 except mt box B4 they loaded-- In which case (since they let it leave which happens at many plants) the trailer should have been vented and stepped down 5-7degrees at a time instead of being set and asked to drop 34deg which kept the unit in hi-speed and kept freezing the condensor which kept throw in it into defrost cycle therefore taking a inordinate amount of time(not to mention fuel) to get the box closer to temp--u ask to get it Back to 26 deg pulp temp BUT U NEVER SAID IT PULPED 26 u said SET to 26--
So to the OP Please clear up the situation on what has actually transpired? Did ur unit Break Down or is it just not cooling down quick enuff and Did u ever actually pulp product--again highly unusual at fresh kill--since most won't even let u inRedForeman, bigkev1115, CondoCruiser and 1 other person Thank this. -
He did say it "was finally fixed" at 8:00pm. So that leads me to believe it was broke down.
