Temp problem

    If I'm reading this right, it was set at 26 when loaded the night before without knowing product temp going in but guessing in the mid 30s to low 40s. the next morning he woke up at 9am to see the temp at 43. by 3pm it climbed up to 60 where it stayed until 8pm.

    That's 5hours @ 34deg over temp on chicken. So unless it's going to dumped straight into the fryer, it's pretty much done.

    I'm willing to speculate it was a preloaded trailer low on Freon, plugged line, bad expansion valve, or dirty coil. Precools ok but can't hold temp when the sun comes up.

    "reading it right" is the key--y I asked WHAT really happened? Lots of good points brought up but--one thing I know for sure is when kill plants in a hurry--even thru blast INTERNAL temp can be MUCH HIGHER than u think--only other thing I know for sure is the OP isn't very clear on what happened--so id still like to know WHOLE story

    Aye seen a few hot loads, mainly produce not so much meat but could see it happening all the same and wouldn't rule it out entirely. Guess it depends on what was "fixed" at the shop.

    OP edited the story so I didn't get to read it all. :(

    What he has there now most loads come out warm and the trailer finishes the chillin'. That's why the drop loaded trailers over a catch trough for the infamous chicken juice.

    If some time has passed depending how long the load sat is probably ruined and headed for McNuggets. :)

    Loaded trailers usually don't sit long and the guard or some other employee monitors the reefers every hour. Usually trailer problems will throw an alarm.


    Did he lose temp on the road?

    Since I gave up the icebox a long while back... are they still icing fresh chicken? As olhand pointed out, be nice to have some detail about the other temps, but if that thing spent 5 hours running @60* he's likely screwed no matter what. When drivers post stuff like this and leave out half the detail, I tend to suspect there's a lot more to the story than meets the eye. The BS detector blaring is another good clue! LOL!


    And the OP's edit looks suspiciosly like a CYA maneuver.

    Got the problem resolved. Broke the seal and pulped the product. It was still hot so im waiting on a place to be able to discard the load. Rather pay $2500 deductible than try and be slick and deliver.

    You're a good man..and I apologize for the "idiot" remark..I believed that you were trying to knowingly deliver spoiled chicken.

    Dump it, let the insurance pay out and grab another load driver.
