The first thing that is almost mandatory is make sure you work somewhere that does direct deposit, then whenever you go to a grocery store or Walmart to buy the needed things makes sure to get a $100 or however much they will allow cash back. I refuse to use the ATM's at truckstops with their $4.00 mandatory service charges. I put my hotels and larger meals on a credit card and pay it's balance each month to keep that credit aspect in good standing. As a younger student/drover or whoever, it is VERY IMPORTANT to always work to improve your personal credit score by whatever means you have available and for that you need real "credit cards".

EDIT: Oh, and working somewhere that runs a lot of NE but does not provide EZ-Pass should not even be considered.

We use a local bank that I've been with for about 10 years. Hubby has a debit card with CC logo. He pulls the money he needs for the week from an ATM. Our bank refunds all foreign ATM fees. Usually he gets back about $20 in fees every month.

I have one friend that has had her Bank of America account hacked twice and a co-worker that has had her account hacked once.

Direct Deposit each week goes into my Etrade account. Get so many ATM withdrawals for free each month. Mostly use the credit/debit card for point of sale purchases. When I first started trucking they shut the card down a couple of times because it was being swiped across several states in a short period of time (team driving). Had to call them up and prove it was me lol.

But my advice is just get a bank and a company to work for that does direct deposit and a credit debit card with all the logos (like PLUS and InterLink, Cirrus etc) on it and you're golden.

If you go thru KS, OK or FL (and you will), those are ones you will have to pay as you go thru the booth, scan your receipts with your trip and get reimbursed. Both KS and OK have websites that you can use to predict what amount of cash advance you will need before you head through. Eventually, you will have the amounts memorized. At least until they raise the prices. Thanks KS. Not.
