that is trucking, either no freight where you are at, or more freight than one company can handle. Now if the truck is not moving, then stevens is not making money either. And when the second floor says get the trucks moving, then stevens cut their rate to the shipper to take freight from other companies to get the trucks moving... the cycle repeats, you are busy, for a while, then it will slow down, as other companies need the business, and undercut stevens. The economy is shrinking, still, there are more trucks than there is freight to move.
And one other thought, the cross country trips have all but disappeared. There are still some produce loads that travel long distance, but most loads, due to the manufacturing, distribution networks have been shrunk to less than 1000 miles.Emulsified and flue Thank this. -
Max, where did you buy property? I live in the Portland area, but go to the north coast every so often. After living in Wyoming for almost 20 years, I'm loving it here in the Northwest, and you will too. I'll take rain over wind and snow any day!

Lol. Tell that to the Ravens, Giants, Raiders, and Eagles...
I'm looking forward to the Broncos adding the Cowpatties to that list on Sunday.
Although, the Cowboys are desperate for a win, pissed about "Manning Fever", and they have home field advantage. So despite they have terrible pass defense, this could be an interesting game.
And the Broncos, if history holds, may suffer the Mile High Choke here soon, and blow a game they should've had in the bag.
It'll be interesting to see... well, hear... I don't get to watch games. -
Freight moves like waves in the sea. If you're running with the waves, you're fat, dumb and happy. But if you're in the lull between waves or worse yet..going the wrong way...well, that's no good.
Before I left last tuesday, I was asking, "where are all the empties at?" We had loads that we just couldn't cover. We were deadheading some trucks from Dallas to Edwardsville just to cover the freight. Couldn't find a truck in N or S Carolina to cover the Smithfield loads.
But So Cal? Sorry folks...everyone was twiddling their thumbs.
There just ain't no justice. It's as TLea says, feast or famine.
Hang tight...sooon you're be crowing about the great miles or worse...needing a break because you've been running so hard.
It's hard to see the overall picture when you're stuck in one area.
Saturday will be a treat!
First bad weather of the year and people crying everywhere!
Meanwhile, more loads to cover and more problems to solve.TLeaHeart Thanks this. -
