Dodger, we have several accounts in San Diego we deliver to and pick up from regularly. I-15 is the common access. We ship a lot from the border area down at San Ysidro. Drop points in Vista, Poway, and mid city as well.
Something for you to check out. California will pay your cost of going to a local driving school for your CDL under the Displaced Workers Act if you're unemployed. check with the unemployment office regarding that. Also you may be eligible for school as a separated veteran. My brother was able to get the Army to pay his schooling a couple years ago, even tho he'd been separated 9 years.
It's the best way to go. You go to a local school, sleep in your own bed and when you're done...you owe nothing to anyone.
Gives you a more fluid choice of direction when deciding which company to go with.
The schools I'm aware of in the area have locations in Riverside, Ontario and Lemon Grove.

 

I just got a great load assignment, except for delivery times... who plans these?

1st drop 0700... no problem, 2nd drop 1300 and 176 miles away, no problem... third drop 0500 504 miles away... problem.

 

Most time assignments are supplied by the shipper. Then we end up having to reschedule in some cases, but not before trying to make the impossible happen.
