stungjoe has the list. AR and AZ you must ignore the green light and enter with hazmat.
OH and WV are two of five states belonging to the Alliance for Uniformed Hazmat. If you have their license you can bypass with a green light. No license you must pull in.

The rest of the states follow your light.
It's kind of funny 50 states expect drivers to keep up with their different rules.

If in doubt, pull in. I know what the prepass info said, but I also know our prepass has been turned off by dot because too many of our hazmat loaded trucks went by the scalehouses with a green light on the prepass. And yes, we do have the hazmat alliance permits. So my thinking is even the dot folks don't know for sure. Better safe than sorry.

Wow - good one there scooter, I was surprisd at the lack of knowledge on this one! And the misinformed.
I remember " double A cow " to help remember them. -
where did your info come from? I run OH and WV and have always followed prepass signals and I haul HM only? if your info is true it has changed in the past few days?
\\\\\\ -
You always for the signs, don't matter what the little box says, i have watched oversize blow by the coops because they got a green light, even though the permitt says to stop. And can't leave out the drivers sitting in a closed scale waiting for the red light on the scale to turn green because prepass told them to go in.

As I haven't kept up with hazmat load, last I knew you must enter regardless, Check the requirements with FMCSA, If you are uncertain, ITs best to make sure you know what the law says, I'm not saying anyone is wrong, I haven't done any kind of hazmat in many years, If you have internet, go to the web pages for states you travel through and find their regulation for hazmat, IF your a company driver, ask them their policies on bypassing scale with a hazmat load, Biggest thing here, is to protect your license
-
I think the main confusion comes from people thinking pre-pass knows the load. It doesn't. Prepass knows about the company is all. It knows alot about the company, yes, but still just the company.
If the state requires all hazmat and os/od loads to enter scale treat that run as if the prepass is not even there.

Hazmat has no bering on the prepass system the only time you ignore the prepass and pull into the scale is if you have a oversized load or you are running class 7 radioactive with a route guide regular hazmat you can just follow the prepass

I just checked my preepass card...scooter is right...most states, if given green, blow on by, but the ones he mentioned are stop in. AZ will really enforce this. I was convoying with another driver. We both had hazmat and he blew the scale and i went in. We both got green lights. He got pulled over and ticketed with a full dot inspection.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
not true at all!!!!! Read the card before you post incorrect infoblairandgretchen Thanks this.
