I filled out an application last Saturday online for Swift. Got a call Monday and as of today I'm being told by my recruiter that they're going to send me to training on the 28th. What am I missing? Am I automatically hired on at this point, or am I going to training and then getting interviewed? Seems a little too easy.
What am I missing?

sounds like you've been hired if they're sending you to training......good luck with that
-
Right - I believe you're not "hired" until after drug screens, physicals etc . . .
Don't go popping the champagne cork just yet.
There's lots of threads on here regarding swift orientation. Search the "motor carrier questions" in the forums. -
My application process was that quick too. But its my understanding you are not hired until you get "coded" on day three of orientation. Consider it a pre-hire and pre-hires can go away fast.

It sounds like they are interested in you. As long as you pass your physical and drug test, and all of your past references check out, you should be o.k. Click on this link, http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...vers/215835-why-there-so-many-cry-babies.html, and read what was said about new drivers. Trucking is a good career, but only if you know what you're getting into. If you don't familiarize yourself with what to expect, you'll have problems.
Go into it with your eyes wide open, and you'll be fine.
Good luck with your new career.Truckergirl0720 Thanks this. -

I have my CDL and not sure how their school works but its probably similar to Roehl's. We went through school knowing we were not employees. Once school was done we had orientation with the experienced new hires and officially became employed by Roehl. But it was possible to finish school and then get told we weren't being hired. Now you are on the hook for tuition. Not likely but stranger things have happened.

If you are training to get a CDL, it is just that - training.
Nothing more.
You first have to complete the training and get your CDL.
And then, you owe them $$$ for that training.
And you owe it no matter if you passed or not.
Then you go to orientation, when they do actual background checks and drug tests (which may or may have not been done before).
Only after you complete the orientation process successfully are you assigned a driver code and actually hired.
Getting in the door is easy.
Getting out the door with that Comdata card - not so easy.
Have your ducks all in a row before starting the process, or you will find that your duck is cooked.Truckergirl0720 and RightCoast Thank this. -
Yeah, okay. That's what I thought. I asked the recruiter if by going to training I was hired. She "kind of" replied in the positive without directly saying yes.
Will bad credit prevent me from getting hired on? Judgements (civil) against my name? I have both. Don't want to waste my time and get in debt to these people if I'm just going to be turned down. -
If bad credit would stop you, I would not have been hired.
They are more worried about criminal offenses, as far as I know, so I don't think it should be a problem.
