So True.
Mercer only puts these on the board because they are available. They mean no disrespect nor expect any driver to accept. They have to run them so long before posting on the outstide board.
And sometimes they do pay worth the setting but rarely.

A different view: if Mercer never had cheap loads to get turned down, their customers could say their rates are too high.

 

Also I appreciate the agent putting good or bad in the notes. Most other carriers fail to tell the drivers any negatives about the load. So to know in advance, one knows to get a higher than normal rate or not take the load.
Mercer strongly incourages the agents to put all details including negatives in the notes.
One customer requires fingerprint scans to be run thru their system after loading and tarping. I finally got the agent to start putting that in the notes for the customer. But that was after agent told me " why would I want to put notes in to scare drivers off the load".

 

Agreed, many of the agents do at least let us be aware of the negatives. It took some time to get one of the agents to update all loads going into a shipyard that won't allow cameras, computers, even basic cell phones. They have no facility to store these items, which are all "standard" things a majority of drivers have. Their policy is "there's the dumpster". I don't think so. I also avoid those places too. I noticed one today with the same restrictions, but also the note that such items can be stored at security until you leave. Info like that can be important or else real problems arise.

 

I wonder about the loads that say no dogs.
I carry my little dachsund that doesn't get out of the truck. I gotta wonder if that would be a problem.
So I stay away from those as well.

 

Right there with you Pops. I just signed on 10/9 pulling a van. My first week has been ok, we'll see how it goes. I've always pulled a tanker and vans, never had the chance to pull a flat. I think i'll ride the cold out slamming doors and when the weather breaks, i'll move to a flat.

 

I'm noticing a lot loads originating or delivering to a military base are having "no pets" in the comments.

 

I could be wrong but I've noticed the Army never seems to care about pets. The Navy and Airforce are always no pets. Fort Bragg of all places looks forward to seeing my dog.

 

I pass em on by, it bad enough a lot of times when that's not on the load order (atlas tube in Chicago, I think I was there once for a year it seemed like) .

 

No wives or passengers either.
