I am 24, just had my criminal record from 18 sealed. Trying very hard to start a career. I have no kids, rarely hang out with friends. I don't smoke drink or do any drugs, other than the occasional bc powder for the headache(haa) Just looking to save money, work hard and see the country.
I am looking for a company that does paid training preferably for 3 weeks or so.
Also how does the training usually work as far as living goes? Where do you stay? Motel? is it paid for? etc...
I am looking for all the help I can get
I live in Arkansas but I am of course willing to relocate.
There is Pam here in little rock which is about 25 minutes from me and I know they offer a training program.
Also I have taken the CDL exam and passed General Knowledge/Air Brakes but have to retake the combination vehicles part monday mourning.
Any help/knowledge would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Looking for something along the lines of a 3 weeks training program.

Why would you want to only get 3 weeks of training, more is better! Less is not good, PAM is out that way as well as Prime up in SpringMo. They will train you, stay away from the Lease Program they have get your training and go from there! If you want to make better then you have in the past, I suggest you slow down a bit and hang with whoever you go with, You don't want to be a job jumper! Good Luck, Read up on this forum, there is plenty here to teach ya what you need. Take Care

Paschall Truck Lines in Murray, KY provides motel room and some meals. The training is free if you stay 12 months. They send a bus ticket to you.
MCT (webite is midwest-coast) has a 3 week program & you will have to check details of that on website. Two schools; Sioux Falls, SD & Wauseon, OH. Training is free if you stay 12 months.
Trailiner Corp. in Springfield, MO
There are several others. Either way, take a little duffle bag of food that can be microwaved, such as:
Ramen Noodles
Instant Coffee
Oatmeal
etc.luvtotruck and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
When you are applying for these companies, do you have job history of some sort from 18 to 24. Do you have any gaps in time where you weren't employed.
Prime feeds you while you are in orientation, class, with food vouchers for a certain amount. They have their Campus Inn they put you up into. You will need to google their website, once on the road you have x amount of miles to go before you graduate. While driving until you upgrade, you will make $600.00 a week. But don't go an that as a reason to hire onto a place. Do some research first. If you do go there, there is a Walmart within walking distance if you need supplies.
They do drive the lightbody trucks, not a lot of room in them, they are as most companies nowdays governed. Start out company wherever you go until you have experience.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I'll 2nd what luvtotruck said... "Why would you want to only get 3 weeks of training, more is better! Less is not good".
When I started, I wanted the longest program offered by the truck driving school, even knowing that a large portion of many areas of trucks/trucking I already knew. I'm always open to better or more correct ways of doing things, and would rather have "too much training" than not enuf. Small initial "sacrifice" for a much greater "reward".
Some great info/suggestions by all the posters above, and don't sell yourself short on time spent training.
It appears you're worried about the $$ and living costs during training. It will be a "bare bones" period, but tough it out for the payoff soon to follow.pattyj and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I think Pam would be your best bet because if you quit later on you won't have that long bus ride home. There is so much you need to know and 3 weeks really isn't enough to learn and be safe out there. You take a 3 week learning program something may happen that could have been taught with longer training.

All above is good info.
I would probably go prime if it were me - but . . . Whoever you choose -
DO NOT QUIT.
DO NOT LEASE PURCHASE.
DO NOT GET TICKETS
And call your mother once in a while, son - she misses you.NavigatorWife and pattyj Thank this. -
If you have hair in the middle of your body, you will be ok.
