I would like to know if anyone have any information on colonial freight systems in Knoxville,tn. The reviews I have read we're bad, but they were three to five years old. I am hoping the company have improved since then. I'm a new trucker driver with 2 months of experience

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Have they changed their hiring policy; used to be you need 15 months OTR experience. Friend of mine was a safety man at one of their terminals & spoke highly of the company, but he wasn't a driver either. He said the company wants 0/0's or L/0's. Those policies may have changed.

If you live in or around Knoxville, look at Burkhart Enterprises website. They run Mack sleeper units. Have to apply in person. It's an interesting operation hauling freight that comes in to Knoxville on barges. No grocery or produce warehouses to deal with either.

What kind of training does Colonial have for 10 weeks? Haven't heard much about Colonial, but it's probably OK, from what the safety man told me.

Ozark in Memphis uses 0/0's and company drivers, but don't know if they have lease/purchase. I do know they have 100% no-touch freight & no NYC & no Canada.

In Southaven, MS; Greatwide has a 0/0 program and it's not a lease to own either. They actually help you buy a truck in your name. You choose the truck you want and they may still provide the $2000.00 down payment for you. Check their website. One of their divisions is at the Associated Grocers Warehouse in Southaven, MS.

Best wishes in your new career.

I work with colonial and i haven't heard about this ten weeks program. Colonial has been good to me but there are some drivers that say they aren't doing well. I go from nc to tx or tn to tx, you can go wherever you want.. The trucks are set at 75 and they do have paper and e logs.. They don't bother you as long as you don't get tickets..

My husband and I talked to David at Colonial last week. We are students. They do hire new student drivers and have a training program. They told us that we have to lease a truck, $800 per week. We have decided not to go with them because we are too new at this trucking business to hop into a big lease like that. Hope that helps.

    That's probably a good idea.
