Are you saying that I am too dumb to be able to evaluate a business model? Are you saying that all of the sudden the company is going to magically "change" and I am going to be deeply disappointed? This is a really dumb statement.

First company I quit, I loathed Forced Dispatch to Canada and I was getting more than my fill when winter rolled in. Some of ya'll don't mind it, ya'll can have my share. Second company I quit, was a spur of the moment type thing. There were underlying things like: most of the time Drop and Hunt instead of Drop and Hook. And 500 mile Average Length of Haul. But I got preplanned on a load that had a real tight window. Had about 11 hrs total from drop to PU and I was at the end of my 14. Of course no MT at the Consignee. Limp to the yard 2 miles away and about a half dozen MTs and all with drivers hooked to them. I set my clock for an hour before my break was up (about 04:00). Got up and checked the yard again and there was 1 unattatched MT with a Bobtail nosed towards it. Woke the guy up (sorry), asked if that was his MT and if he would give it up cause I needed to roll immediately to hit the pickup appt. Of course he refused. Informed Dispatch again that I still didn't have an MT. They told me to wait until operations got in at 07:00. I stroll in at 07:00 and get ignored by everyone in the bullpen for a solid 15 minutes. I noticed the Terminal Manager was in his office so I knocked and was invited in. Told him my situation and he said head back to your truck and we'll find you one. Two hours later the guy that I woke comes over and tells me I can have his MT now. I tell him no thanks, there was a time to help the company and that time had passed when he turned me away earlier. I go in and tell the Terminal Manager to find me a different MT. He tells me I can take the one the guy offered and I told him if I take that one, this will be my Final Load with the company. He says fine by him. Not my terminal of course. You see this was the load to get me home 4 days Late. So I put my notice on the box and spent 5 hours at the shipper on Work-you-in-status. Delivered the load and surrendered the truck to my terminal. No regrets what so ever.

Which is why, regardless of what many members on this forum may say, unions can be very beneficial for these exact situations.

If your smart and you are talking Prime you will outgrow them and then leave a bunch of people coming in as your leaving. Three months may seem like a long time but your views may change after a year.

Unions become a bad thing when lazy screwups milk the system. the origonal point of a union is good, just like welfare, BUT they are both bad due to undeserving lazy people milking the system.

I have been with Prime for 2 years now. I agree with your assessment that most people will outgrow Prime if they want to go out on their own, or go closer to home. I have a different story. Not for this thread though.

Its being treated as less then a person , no compensation for work performed , hardly any pre planed loads even after comucating unload times . sitting more then miles driving and that's with Roehl,Heartlad and Knight.
I was up in Alaska for ten years and seems like it all has gotten worse. Twenty nine year driver no accedents lots of flat bed ,heavy haul ,LTL ..It no wonder why the driver shortage is so huge ....Treat me like a person I work like hell .
