Nope. I'll sit behind swift, prime or yellow until I have NOTHING in the rear view, then I'll pass. 5-15 minutes - who cares. And usually they'll notice I wasn't in a hurry, and back off to let me go.

Did you realise you can go SLOWER than your governed speed?

Yes, I drive a governed truck. And if it were mine, I wouldn't be dumb enough to run around at 80 all day blowing my profits out the stack to finish in the same place as the 60 mph truck that I passed 6 times that day, expecting him to "back off the throttle".

Tony the trucker dude is right, its all WWW.itsallaboutme. com these days.

Now I'll shut up before I really get rolling.

We all have pet peeves, as far as these goes along. Yes I hated being blinded and Hated when the other driver uses highbeams to flash you letting you know you have cleared. Many times I had to slow down and let the guy pass me back to let the green dots clear. Coming up to 2 trucks inching by each other taking 5 miles to pass. Not backing down is being just as much of a jerk as the guy trying to pass. But I hate trucks that been castrated anyway.

I rather run with the flow of traffic than be a cause of a back up. Highways are designed for a specific speed and when someone goes slower it costing all more money in fuel, and lives. Going slower is not always save Lives nor does it always save fuel

Heres one that I could never figure out, When there is a lane closure and you have the Johnny big rigger who has to block off the traffic a half mile before the lane runs out. Explain that one to a trooper. If they wanted the lane closed off that much sooner they would have put the cones there.

Yep, in fact, it's counterproductive fuel mileage-wise, to constantly bump the goveror.

That's why there's signs a couple miles before the merge but everyone doesn't wanna merge because they are more important than the other vehicles... Thats why it gets backed up for miles...Thats where I come in an play traffic cop and ride down the middle... I wish all states would have the "STATE LAW MERGE NOW" signs like they do in Oklahoma which are about a half mile to mile before the actual merge.

common courtesy, common sense and respect. Do these three things and we all make home safe and sound. Unfortunately we seem to live in a society where everybody thinks the rules don't apply to them. Just because your truck cant do the posted speed limit doesn't mean you are free to make up that time by doing 62 in a construction zone. My blinker is on for a reason. (usually) I may need to get over for someone disabled on the shoulder. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. We're professionals out here. At least were supposed to be. If more people would start acting like it maybe, just maybe, we would start to see some more respect given to our industry. Stop driving five feet off a four wheelers bumper at highway speeds. Or anyones bumper for that matter. I used to think we were getting a bad rap, there was just this blanket hatred for truckers. But I've realized its not baseless. As for wrecks, yes most wrecks are caused by four wheelers doing something stupid but most of the time the other driver wasn't completely aware of his surroundings, didn't give himself a cushion, wasn't anticipating actions of other drivers, not watching on ramps for upcoming merging traffic... etc... very rarely is there a wreck where there was absolutely nothing that could be done to avoid or greatly reduce the significance of the wreck. And when trucks wreck, unlike cars, we usually block entire interstates, hours upon hours of cleanup, and suddenly it's on the six o'clock news and the headline is usually "Truck overturns causing major delays' not 'Prius does something stupid, causes truck to overturn'. anyway I lost my train of thought, I'm just rambling now. Stay safe, use your head, give yourself space, plan ahead.
