    Dear Friends.
I need your help. My situation is that one of our driver had an accident. After I reported the accident to my insurance agency she told me that the insurance company will take care of the trailer but it wont cover the cargo as you do not have cargo coverage at all. we didn't know until we had an accident. Usually when she sent us a certificate of insurance it mentioned cargo coverage as $100 000. Can you advice me please, very urgent. I have no idea what to do in this situation.
your response is very much appreciated
    Thanks

I would show her the certificate and ask why they sent it if you didn't actually have it.
If it does actually state that you have the insurance, then I would contact an attorney ASAP.

Is it possible to have your CARGO insurance through a different carrier? Or is she full of Blue beans and just doesn't want to cover the load? I'm headed to get the pop Corn and see how this one plays out! Good Luck to the OP!

I don't carry cargo insurance, but I haul my own products. That is the only case I can think of where you wouldn't need it.

Are you sure this isn't some brand new person at the insurance agency that doesn't have a clue? Go to the SAFER website and type in your company info under the Snapshot link, then look to the right under Insurance, click that link, then go to the link Active / Pending Insurance and it should bring up your current insurance that is filed with your state, IRP, etc....assuming your an Interstate carrier. There is also a link for Cancelled insurance - perhaps check there.

Also look at the paperwork / emails that you sent in to bind the coverage this year - which options did you choose. The proposal or quote should list what carrier you are think you are covered with.

Technically you can have two different insurance carriers for Cargo and Auto Liability and occasionally a third for Physical Damage if you want. Typically the insurance company will give you a discount to combine all three with them so it is less common to have different carriers.

I hope you have those certificates she sent you. Even if you don't, the companies you hauled for will have a copy.

The only thing I can think of is if you're not good with being on top of your paperwork it might have lapsed and you didn't notice? didn't see the notification, or something... otherwise she is absolutely fishy.

I'm definitely going to keep tabs on this thread. Good luck.
