Can you just cut through Canada?

    Say you were going from Detroit to Buffalo. Can you go through Canada? This is of course assuming you have a passport and your company already goes to Canada. I've wondered this for awhile, and never bothered to ask.

    It's called an in-bond transit. I've never done it but I'm sure the info pertaining to it is easy to find.

    Yes I think you can, however I think you would have to do the E manifest for going into Canada and also for returning to the USA . If you dont have a transponder it costs 10.50 to get back into US.

    I cannot see much to stop it.

    Ever thought how you drive a load from North Dakota to Alaska?

    When I made that run, I just showed the paperwork at the Canada border and Alaska.

    You have to pay 10.75 to enter the US.

    Some of the customs you get right thru it like Sweetgrass,MT.But this one,could take an hr to all day before you cross.

    The difference in milage is almost nothing..... It's been awhile but was very surprised how small it was ..... Central Michigan to upstate NY ....:)

    Which would you do?Think the time getting in and back out of Canada would be a hassel wouldn't it?

    Not to mention added costs for phone, food, fuel and if there is IFTA and IRP for Canada.

    what's the border crossing like at sweet grass Montana into southern alberta 'I intend to cross that way mid December on my way to lethbridge driving from Denver .

    Best to go through early in the morning. If paperwork is in order, no problem.

    I crossed over that port almost weekly for a few months.
