Only you can decide what to do. I understand IL is one of the worst states to transfer your license back to.
New marriage, new wife, new job, new state, could be alot to process at once. It could be a strain on your relationship.
If you haven't spent a great deal of time in Las Vegas, I recommend that you take an extended trip there, with your future wife, say for several weeks. I lived there many years ago, and it wasn't for me. But it may be perfect for you.
I think that the key is that once you transfer your license to Nevada, it makes it much more difficult to return to your old life. Choose wisely. Good luck.
what would you do?

My man, let me tell you something. Every job has its ups and downs. This Trucking industry has to be the worst downs. When it really sucks it realllllllly sucks. Think about this what truck driver do you know who is working Monday through Friday 8 hours a day not ruining his health not behind a 80000# vehicle where one thing can go wrong and his/her life is over. Answer :No driver.
Get on that Monday to Friday weekends off holidays off job while you can. You will be in bed with your fiance/wife every night. You will be eating much better than you will be while on the road. Take this chance, it may never come again.
Sincerely,
Santafull speed and jamesgang Thank this. -
I agree that if it were a job that brings you into a career that you could find other jobs like this, then you may want to think twice about it.
If this will work you into an INDUSTRY that pays well and you are home nights and weekends, (not insulting any of us), but that would be a step up.
If this is an isolated job, that if you lose it or they close up you have nowhere to go, that doesn't sound as good. -
And give up a promising career with CRST??
You gotta be nuts!!!!
You're gonna miss not showering, I tell ya.
Good luck, we'll still be here. -
I can't believe you even have to ask. $60,000.00 to live in a gated community in Vegas on their dime? I would be all over it. Trucking will always be here to fall back on. If you get out there still have the need to truck, you should have some disposable income to buy a used truck and bucket and put a driver in it Mon-Fri and you can run a couple loads on the weekend.

If I were you, I would take the job, then find a weekend job driving, there are a lot of part time driving jobs with work available on the weekends. Most full time employees want to be home on the weekends, so there always seems to be a shortage of weekend help. Fuel transport comes to mind, but there are many. In addition to this I would keep my current CDL and keep an Illinois mailing address, perhaps your fathers or another family members address, so that they could receive any important mail. As long as you have the Illinois mailing address, your CDL should still be safe. There are a lot of options with weekend work, and if you want to take a weekend off, no one will mind, it has been my experience that the part time drivers are pretty well taken care of because they are usually available when no one else wants to work, meaning weekends or holidays. It might be that you would be needed for a simple three or four hour run during the evening for someone.
