By looking at how many years you guys been driving I cant tell that you dont like to be told that your way its not the only way.like the guy who was talking about ups freight being cheap around this time of year and I copmletly agree with him specially for time sensitive freight.if it was up to me I will pull a flat 9 months with mercer than a van on my own during this time of year.

Is it worth owning a van for 3 months a year of work?
-
Im not trying to come up right or a prove a point im just saying different srokes for different folks.some guys like a long run some dont somrguys dont mind bring on the road for weeks others wanna be home every weekend, what I dont agree with is trying to cover everybody with the same blanket.being mercerised is the first thing I heard ehen I was in louisville for my orientation and dont think that statement is true
-
I said if it was up to me that means if I can stay leased with mercer while im doing that and if I can run my authority for only 3 months a year.somebody said he had his own authority before coming to mercer well obviously he couldnt handle that because he dont got what it takes.i drove for a guy who let me call the brokers and get my own loads and this time of year the 1.78 ups is paying is just a joke,my phone start ringing 7am when I have the truck listed on the internet
-
Myself i dont like corodinators calling me every 10 minutes offering me garbage that the computer matches to me gets annoying
-
Wow. So because I had my own authority before Mercer, I don't have what it takes? I couldn't handle my own authority? Wow.
Do you read your post? Are you hearing what your writing? -
Im just replying to what you saying.u said if owning a van for three months is worth it that mean you the one who is not reading and understanding what im writing cause I said if I had it my way.having your own authority is far more rewarding but it gotta be done right andbi will explain

Will mercer let you guys take the winter off....? Three months ? If you could afford it.....
I plan as much of my time off in the winter as possible ..... -
First of all paperwork is now easier than ever have an app on a smartphone It will do your logs and your ifta automatically by gps for 25 dollars a month.get a subscription with a load board 40 dollars a month and if u dont like calling brokers there is dispatch companies that will handle all your paperwork and look for loads for a 400 dollars a month.fuel didcount you can sign up with ooida and get their fuel card or there is companies where you prepay for the fuel and you get a good discount.being paid quick is no problem for 2 or 3 percent.for the insurance u gotta have clean record to get a good rate.the most important thing is equipment pull a reefer in the produce season a van in the holidays and a flat the rest of the year,u dont have to own 3 trailers but the one you gonna use most and lease the others.so good credit is a must.that being said I just bought a 50 ft low pro step cash and as soon as I pay off my truck im going that route

Yes Mercer lets us take off as long as we wish. We have some that do just that and some that take off in the spring for farming.
Then there is some that use the truck and freight being retired yet traveling. Running one or two loads a month for travel.
