Any tips or hints on remembering not to clutch all the way to the floor?

I have to push my clutch to the floor on my home vehicle.... but now trying to double clutch in school... you don't press the clutch in far.... I' keep forgetting and I loose a lot of time shifting gears.

Depending on your height, you could move the seat back so that your leg/foot will not reach all the way to the floor.

With practice you will learn to just bump the clutch in....practice practice practice.

I think you will be able to remember not to push clutch all the way everytime you shift ... after you practice it for a few days.:biggrin_25519:

I'm pretty newbie, but this helped me:
Think bump-bump... Bump the clutch once to break the torque as you let off the throttle, then as the rpms fall and you're where you need to be for the next higher gear, bump it again and it should slip right in. To downshift, think bump-blip-bump, where the blip is to increase rpms by giving a shot of throttle.
Then get out of school and your trainer will show you how to float'em...so much smoother.
Of course, having a properly adjusted clutch is important, unlike many school's beater trucks.

The only stick I've driven is a CMV but i hear people say its a little different. The school will have u double clutching just remember to clutch to take out gear and clutch to put it in gear. Because when u get with your trainer you will not have to double clutch and when u get personal trk u can float. But tim ing will come since u have a personal car go practice on it u will sense the clutch every one i have driven is different u will no when u shift a couple gears on how far to push clutch in

When you need to use the clutch brake, just slide your body forward to the edge of the seat so you can push the clutch all the way to the floor.

One way to avoid using the clutch brake so much, is to downshift to the gear you want to start out in when you pull up to a stop sign....slip it into 2nd or 3rd gear just as you are rolling to a stop.

Mtn. Dew and Arkansas Frost Thank this.
