Hey guys, just thought I would share that I am very happy with my first week so far. Waiting another day in boston paid off. My co found a 19000 lb load 30 mi away going to richmond. Averaged 1.76/mi so far. picking up in roanoke thurs for chi town cause I want to go home which will bring my average down unless she finds something out of chicago going through my house. If I can keep close to this average through the winter I will stay very happy. Thanks for all the advice and stay safe. Rob

don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the loads. the money is good, maybe even great considering its December. just kinda laughing at myself for going to my two least favorite parts of the country. as far as my reload out of Laredo, I figure if I don't have one booked by the time I'm empty I'm just gonna stay heading east. if I'm not mistaken Birmingham is 700 miles away. that's less than 300 in fuel. so worst case is I'm sitting in Birmingham empty come Tuesday morning.

that average will be very easy to maintain. i live in south Florida, the black hole of flatbed freight. I aim for 1.80 of the hub and have never not hit that mark, so there is no reason you won't be able to do it. especially considering how lazy and down right picky I can be.

Flatbed22 I did the black box when i signed on in Oct. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. I like the fact that i don't have to keep track of mileages and sending logs in anymore. I feel like i run harder now just trying to get as far as i can in one day and i'm always tired. It wants you to run like a machine and that i'm not. I liked to cruise at my own pace. Now it's go go go until your 14 or 11 is up.

Looking at getting out of this truck and getting a house. I've looked at several and they are all around the 325" wheelbase mark. 1 was 350". Any input would be appreciated as far as length and practicality with one. Does anyone pull a van with theirs?

I don't pull a van but be happy to answer any questions as mine is almost big enough. I've got 305" wheelbase. I hear the pete's are lighter than the KW's and especially lighter than a western star.
Once you have a big house, you'll never go back.
I think so many have more wheelbase than needed.
