I think I was the first driver to switch over full time to the ELD. Advantages and disadvantages of course, like anything else. You are supposed to fill out a weekly sheet to send in miles though, that is not done by the device. Without that no IFTA reporting for your truck. I'd hate to have to go back and figure out miles and states for a couple months after the fact!

Shouldn't have to run any harder than before it you plan your trips and loads. If there's a delay loading or unloading, I didn't get in a rush to "make up time" before I was on the ELD, and I'm not going to do it now. If the shipper and receiver can't get their job done in a timely manner I never felt the obligation for me to have to compromise my time or safety (or being legal) to make up for their shortcomings. I don't care how bad it has to get there, it will get there on my schedule which will be legal.

And yes, it's actually more relaxing, don't have to worry about forgetting to put in a log entry which can happen to the most diligent of drivers, and especially no "form and manner" violations. I've rolled through several DOT checkpoints where I was signalled to pull in, and every time so far once they saw the elog sticker on the door they just told me to get on down the road. That's a nice advantage, and also saves wasting an hour getting inspected.

So if you have a mileage discrepency for a trip who do you talk to? I brought a load from roanoke va to chicago, agent listed it as 666 miles. Google maps had most direct route as 720 miles. The way I went (wrong way apparently) was 820 miles. At least next time I know which way not to go. LOL. 81 to 64n to 77n to 70w. You know the long way. Guess ill finally have to get a gps. Rob

672 on my Google Map. I don't see how anyone could argue with GPS routing. There's no way to look at a map and determine he shortest route.

I rarely come out short on loaded miles vs. pay miles. But the deadhead miles vs DH miles on the board are always 10-15% short.
Sorry I wouldn't know who to complain to. Probably Janson or Eric in contractor relations. They are great listener and has helped me out on other problems.

81 to us460,i77, i64w, us35, us23,i70w,i65,i80,i94. you went the wrong way. honestly you can only complain to yourself. us 35 to us 23 to Columbus oh is good road.

only section I might forego is the us 460 route and stay I-81 to I-77but then I have ran it forever.
