you know, sometimes I think about how much we rely on technology and I don't think it's a good thing.
for my first ten years I only had a good road map, and a couple dozen city street maps. never got lost, never went out of route. bought agps about five years ago, got so used to it, that when it quit working about a year ago, I was just screwed. would stare at my atlas with a blank look of confusion. was amazed at how using that gps for so long had just made me dumb.
I did buy another a few weeks later but have forced myself to stop using it so much. I do it the old fashion way and plot my route by map, then plug in the address to the gps for comparison.

705 miles to Slidell. so a thousand to Birmingham. ####. might have to rethink my plan. I get a solid 9.5mpg empty, so worst case I'm reloading in Birmingham Wednesday morning.

I still call each customer to get directions from them, I also use google earth, streets and trips , and my gps. but I never ever leave home without my laminated rand McNally trucking atlas.

it got me by the first 23 years, I only added that other stuff in the last few years. I can figure most route in my head pretty much.

bad monkey, youre learning. and doing fairly it seems, and welcome to tubing in Chicago, lol.
