    My name is Jordan, I live on Long Island, NY, and I started CDL training this past week, at a private(non-company affiliated) school. I am getting a good training so far. They help with job placement. The thing though is I don't really want to work for a big company with trucks all over the place. Am I pretty much forced into one of these horror stories of trucking companies that try to get you to lease a truck just to work for them.

    No, you're not forced into a lease; a lease is voluntary.

    Look at NFI Industries in New Jersey and see if that's what interest you. They hire new CDL graduates.
