Barr-Nunn didn't care, they would give you loads where you had to run at full speed the entire way, or you would be late ! Shippers would get you loads late, but you HAD to deliver on time !! Barr-Nunn fired drivers for idling, no idling was allowed unless it was colder than 15 degrees, they would write Drivers up for being 5 minutes late, even after you did all you could to get there on time ! They fired hundreds of Drivers, they were ruthless ! After getting fired, they then would fight and try to prevent that fired Driver from collecting Unemployment !! Stay AWAY from Barr-Nunn , they DON'T CARE about Drivers, they discard them like a piece of trash !!

I work for Barr Nunn right now but looking for new work I have been here for 6 months, the trucks are new and that's a plus.. the loads suck waiting 20+ hrs to pull your next load that in there words are getting paid a lot of money for. I was 1 minute late on a Conway load and was charged for being late. The time thing is very true they don't give you time during a run to even sit down and eat lunch ... the runs are 250 mile runs then you go back to sleeper birth and wait till the next load comes thrue the next day... northeast regional drivers have to fill a paper out saying you only expect to get 1,500 to 1,800 miles a week... but that's not even the case I have had several 1,300 mile weeks... as far as idling the truck that's a no no.. your bonus is gone they say there getting apu but there not I have asked and was told the repaires cost to much.... getting home well I have had to deadhead 4.5 hrs to go home you don't get paid for that either..... I have talked to a lot of the drivers and I here the same old things I'm going there.. anyone know of any company's paying $1,200 a week let me know and pet friendly.... no pets here unless you lease a truck

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if you get caught doing 62 in a 45, YOU are the one driving the truck, not dispatch. If the shipper , or hazardous weather is making you late, let dispatch know so they can either call the receiver or reschedule. If your dispatcher is a complete #######, then go above him/her or to your safety dept. if all that doesn't work, and the company is that bad about scheduling and you get penalized for refusing to violate the regulations THEN GET OUT OF THAT COMPANY, and let FMCSA know about that company's practices. Unfortunately Iowa is a right to work state, which means Barr Nunn can fire you for any reason. If you were late because you overslept then it's your own fault.

OK guys I'm still there but I have put them in there place, I have and awesome cvsa score so I'm sure that's what's keeping my job right now. I told them this is what I want you meet my requirements or you will find yourself picking your truck up from the truck stop yes you get a bonus but the key is tell them to stick the bonus I do idle my truck to stay comfortable as far as running a load that you have to sit behind the seat on just send um a message you gotta take a dump that covers your ### literally , I can say how I bypass the shut offs to idle the truck if I did everyone would be doing it ... Its just a job the checks are good and I'm getting my miles if it comes to a gault then I will be leaving but its been 2 months and still going strong

Barr - Nunn. Not that bad of a company. Started 02/2013 let go in 12/2013 for missing to many days at work. Bunk heater was'nt working properly and they was in no hurry to get fixed and they never did while I was there. When it gets in the 20's at night and you have to take your break with no heat you will get sick. I did witch turned into the pneumonia. Stayed with me for over a mounth. They said I could come back as a rehire however when I called them back to return the told me that I had 5 service failures and could'nt come back. That is false never had a service failure, never turned down a load. There no different than any other company they do lie. Trucks are slow, you have to preplan to the minute to make p/u's and del's on time. You will do ALOT of setting vut when its time to go you gotta go. The money isnt that bad, not great. Stay safe, and don't feed the bears!!!

Worked there Nov 2010-May 2011. I see the insanity hasn't stopped. Everything posted about them is true when it comes to sitting all day to run 250 mile non--stop loads over and over. I wondered how they stay in business with driver turnover rate and terminations for no reason. I just happened to see them looking for teams on craig..list and came to this site to see what drivers had to say. It looks like they're finally on the last leg looking to team drivers. Any fool knows teams R hard to come by. I Quit JB 2/6/2014 and saw Arr Dumm had 9 empty trucks sitting on their small Charlotte, NC yard Midday on a Thursday??? HONESTLY GUYS ONLY GO HERE IF IN A BIND AND NEED A JOB, BUT ONLY STAY UNTIL THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS... I don't think it's worth it then but everyone has different financial responsibilities.

ive heard enough good and bad about barr-nunn and my conclusion is all these companies are the same and its time to face the music if you want to adhere to the law ie DOT REGS. you cant make money in this business as a driver. You have to break the rules don't let any one tell you different and when the bad happens on the road you will be blamed for it all and they will turn away and you will hear the key hit the floor. Done Dude. You can't drive legal and make a living driving. wake up america!!! The bad guys are winning and you are letting them by driving there unsafe equipment pushing the limit and killing our families. I lost everything because people in general are turning absolutely corrupt and in this industry corrupt people cutting corners gets people killed. We are all fools to be putting up with this I might die broke but at least I know I did the right thing not taking the crap all the companies dish out. I've been everywhere from north dakota oil fields to the piers of norfolk supplying contractors to build for our navy. These companies are corrupt. IF Not ALL Then Most of them. Dont drive for a living period...

I'm still here. Having my best year. My truck is a 2014 MaxForce ProStar. They are finally going to the DD15 Cascadia with inverters. Wish I got one of those but I've got a solid truck right now. This year will be the most I've earned OTR followed by last year. If I move somewhere else my next move is Walmart or my own authority.
