The reason some of us don't park is because we know how to drive in this crap. The biggest problem is you have idiots that run normal speeds in this and cause accidents.
The next biggest problem for some god forsaken reason that I have never figured out and probably never will figure out is the states don't get their lazy workers out there to plow like the should be. Oh and they went to that liquid deicer most places which is probably the biggest waste of tax payers money that there ever has been spray it 2 days before a storm then it snows delutes the deicer and then it doesn't work. Yea that's real smart that was over the argument that salt hurts the roads well it sure as hell didn't around here because they never dropped any salt. Now then some states keep up when a snow hits other states find it easier to just shut down the interstate and let the county's take care of the highways. That being said its funny state always has a 4 plow trucks running up and down hwy 77 between Lincoln and Beatrice even if we get less than 1" of snow, I've yet to see a plow truck on I80 this year. I do believe they need to focus on the big road and quit worrying so much about the 2 and 4 lane highways. Then again that's what I take when the big road is shut down.
511 is a helpful too. Whenever I'm in question I'll rail the number and at least know what I'm going to have to go running into. You don't have to park it to be safe in winter conditions, just need to use you or head and think a little bit.KeithT1967, Rocks, Raiderfanatic and 1 other person Thank this. -
I counted 21 big trucks in the ditch last week on i70 between indy and Effingham il. when the last storm hit.

im glad i don't go that far quick question who is responsible to clean the highway and can a trucker fill a lawsuit against the state after a wreck caused by the snow because they didn't clean it im not sure im just asking no negative answer please.
-
No, states all the way down to local municipalities are immune from being sued over road conditions caused by weather. The driver is ultimately responsible for control of their vehicle. Some people have had luck getting alignments after hitting potholes but it takes a lot of time and effort to get anything at all.

This area of interstate sucks...rough road and corners with crappy merging traffic and too many truckers pushing on anything in their way. A plow won't solve this problem....welcome to Indiana please drive accordingly.
yessir and Raiderfanatic Thank this. -
a snow storm is considered an act of god or nature ( depending on ones belief )
good luck finding a lawyer..........

Indiana sucks
Calling 65 is an interstate is an insult to interstaes .
Us 41 has better flow xDRaiderfanatic Thanks this. -
yeah I was through there Thursday too and glad to be going south instead of north. When the salt truck is through the guardrail looking into the ditch clearly somebody waited too long to address the conditions. I knew 2 days prior that snow was coming before I got there and they still dropped the ball on getting ahead of it. Not like it was that much snow either. I hate running through there when I know it's gonna be snowing.
