Hello all, I am a newbie to this board and found it while browsing online. I got my CDL class A back in April 2013. A company called KC Transport (says KC Integrated Services at the top of their website) wants me to work for them. There is a recruiter that said they will reimburse me for paying the money to get my HazMat and will send me to Indiana overnight for orientation, then put me in a truck with another driver for 4-6 weeks. This will be my first trucking job ever, and I am nervous, as my wife and child have never been without me. The recruiter claimed that 80% of their drivers are home every weekend, but I am feeling like I'll be in the unlucky 20% that is not. Does anyone have any experience with this company? I have searched this entire job board and can find nothing much about them. Their website says they offer: Referral Bonus, Paid Orientation, Medical with Prescriptions, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Company Match 401K Plan, Direct Deposit, Rider Policy, Fuel Cards, Stop Pay, Delay Pay, Vacation, Holiday Pay. I wanted to find a local haul, but all of those require at least 2 years verifiable experience, so my family will just have to deal with me being gone for 2 years. The pay rate is not listed on their website, but recruiter said .41cpm. I can't find anything about their company on glassdoor either, or any reviews really for that matter. I'm also not sure really what to expect with this whole orientation thing. Is that where they will have the contract to sign? I wanted to go over the contract with my wife (she has to deal with contract negotiations in her job in healthcare), but if I'm in Indiana hours away from home, that probably won't be possible. Thanks for any advice.

Grasshopper, you should be fine. I have seen there trucks around for a long time. I looked at the website, I was curious as to who it was. Just go in with a positive attitude, put in your time, find a local job later. Good luck.

Wow you been out of school for almost a year without even driving. You have to take what you can get buddy. None of these companies are perfect and they all have a special way of bending you over. Most of those sign on bonuses apply to people with experience. Even some of those pay out over a years time. Wow .41 cpm to a rookie. That's pretty good, but that probably means they do short hauls. Keep us updated on your adventures and don't sweat it.

Thanks, I will try to keep updated on here as much as I can. I have a feeling I will be super busy in a couple days once I start. The only reason I stayed home this long is because my wife was finishing up her grad school degree and was gone 5 days a week and studying so much. So I stayed home with the little one. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Will try to let everybody know how this all pans out.

    Dinomite and redeye7174 Thank this.

Hey grasshopper ...i worked for KC twice ...06 then again 08 ...06 was local but they lost alot of fords lanes and so they were laying lots of us off like 30 at a time ....then about 2months later they asked me to run tri state but it didn't work out for me wasn't getting enough miles ,DO NOT LEASE A TRUCK FROM THEM ....until you have gotten your feet wet for atleast a yr OTR .....if you're in the motor city area type in EHS trucking ,im giving this info to you because you are married and have babies ....this is a local job running Chrysler frght ,..we will work your butt off ,but at the end of the day ,you park the trk and go home be with moma and babies....we will put you onboard ,train you alittle to make you don't kill anyone or crunch up equipment....this is Gods truth
....it's just because you have a wife and babies OTR can be poisonous to marriage also not good for your children, take this advice from someone who knows first hand ....good luck ,god bless ya !!!!
