    That's pretty pathetic. I can't help but wonder sometimes if wind restrictions at bridges also cover empty flatbeds.

    New recruits today are so stupid they need special instruction for going through scales?

    Even the non English speakers make it through alright. There's plenty of arrows and red and green lights to guide a newbie.

    Some are so stupid they drive thru the fuel islands, park at the fuel islands to get a meal or the rare shower, block the scale entrance exit at the truck stop, drive in the center lane even when not passing anyone and on and on. Most of this is caused because they lack common sense and no one took the time or effort to teach them otherwise. That is why when I taught at a CDL school I took the time to actually teach.

    well there are 2 ways to look at this you are completely nuts to suggest such a thing or you are very perceptive in recognising the lesson that could be given, here is a thought if you are doing training take the silly prepass out of the truck no light no problems.

    No one taught me when I started. Only station I pulled into just had a scale no fancy arrows or officer asking for a "break" check. Got yell at to pull forward more lol. And after years I still haven't got pulled into those fancy stations

    thanks for the replays drivers. you can call me nuts but I want the students in my truck to have every experience they can get. still in the dark as to how that preepass works and if they even much care. I bet most you don't know either. running company truck with good CSA and taking the time to scale loads and make any necessary axle moves seems to have allowed me to never get called in at a scale yet. I don't think new drivers are stupid, I think they just have a ton more to manage which gives them more chance for error. scale, prolly not a good place for a new solo driver to feel nervous or unsure of themselves. I do see a lot of closed scales so prolly might run up those on occasion if I think its useful for the student.
